ROUTE GUIDANCEThe main features of the NISSAN Naviga-tion System are visual guidance and voiceguidance in selected map coverage areas.Utilizing a network of GPS (Global Position-ing System) satellites, the NISSAN Naviga-tion System tracks the location on themap and navigates to a preferred location.

Once you set the destination in a map cov-erage area, the NISSAN Navigation Systemwill calculate a route from your current lo-cation to your destination. The real-timemap display and turn-by-turn voice guid-ance leads the driver along the route. These features can be especially helpfulwhen driving to unfamiliar locations.

The system may be unable to set a desti-nation and/or calculate a route when thedestination is outside the map coveragearea. Additionally, voice guidance may notbe available if the destination is outsidethe map coverage area. For more informa-tion on how to set a destination, refer toSection 4.

POINTS OF INTEREST DIRECTORYThe NISSAN Navigation System offers anextensive Points of Interest directory inmap coverage areas. This directory in-cludes a wide variety of destinations. Byaccessing the Points of Interest directory, you can search for addresses for adestination, and just by pushing a button, the NISSAN Navigation System will calcu-late a route to the destination.

The Points of Interest directory has manyuses. For example, the directory can besorted by the various types of restaurantsnear your current location. If you need abank or a gas station, the NISSAN Naviga-tion System can navigate you to the clos-est preferred location using the Points ofInterest entered in the system.

“SETTING A DESTINATION FROMPOINTS OF INTEREST” (page 4-9)

ADDRESS BOOKThe address book can store up to 50 loca-tions from map coverage areas into a per-sonal directory. This is especially useful forfrequently visited locations, such as clients, relatives and friends. The address bookfunction allows easy access to frequentlyvisited locations when setting them asyour destination.

“SETTING A DESTINATION FROMTHE ADDRESS BOOK” (page 4-17)

SIRIUSXM TRAFFIC INFORMATIONWhen available, the SiriusXM Traffic Infor-mation broadcast may help to avoid de-lays due to traffic incidents. Traffic jams, roadwork, closed roads around the cur-rent location, etc. are represented graphi-cally on the map by icons depicting the na-ture of the event. Incidents on the routeare automatically displayed when they areapproached.

The SiriusXM Traffic Information feature, viathe guidance mode, may help to detouraround traffic problems. For more infor-mation on the SiriusXM Traffic Informationfeature, refer to section 4.

DISPLAY OF CURRENT VEHICLELOCATIONThis navigation system combines the dataobtained from the vehicle (by gyro sensor)and from GPS (Global Positioning System)satellites to calculate the current locationof the vehicle. This position is then dis-played throughout route guidance to adestination.

WHAT IS GPS (Global PositioningSystem)?GPS is a position detecting system thatuses satellites deployed by the U.S.government. This navigation system re-ceives radio signals from three or more dif-ferent satellites that orbit 13,049 miles(21,000 km) above the earth in space, anddetects the position of the vehicle by utiliz-ing the principle of triangulation.

DETAILED MAP COVERAGE (MCA)FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEMThis system is designed to help you reachyour destination, and also performs otherfunctions as outlined in this manual. However, you, the driver, must use the sys-tem safely and properly. Information con-cerning road conditions, traffic signs and

the availability of services may not alwaysbe up-to-date. The system is not a substi-tute for safe, proper, and legal driving.

Map data is available on the providedSD-card. For information about the mapSD-card, contact a NISSAN dealer or callthe NISSAN NAVIGATION SYSTEMHELPDESK. See the contact information onthe inside front cover of this manual.

Map data includes 2 types of areas: “De-tailed coverage areas” providing all de-tailed road data and other areas showing“Main roads only”.

NOTE:

Detailed map data is not available inmany areas and is generally limited toselect major metropolitan areas.

WHEN A GRAY ROAD IS DISPLAYEDON THE MAP∙ Route calculation may not be possible

when a destination or the current vehiclelocation is near a gray road.

∙ Route guidance (enlarged view and voiceguidance) may not be available at the in-tersection where the road your vehicle isdriving on and a gray road intersect.

∙ Places information and street namesnear gray roads are not contained in themap data.

∙ To reach your destination, refer to themap screen. Always follow actual roadsand regulations and drive safely.

∙ The suggested route may not be theshortest, nor are other circumstancessuch as traffic jams considered unlessthe SiriusXM Traffic is active.

∙ Because of the inevitable difference inroad conditions and circumstances be-tween the time you use this system andthe time the information was producedfor the map data, there may be discrep-ancies in roads and regulations. In suchcases, follow the actual informationavailable.

∙ During route calculation, the map will notscroll, however the vehicle icon will movewith the actual vehicle’s movement.

∙ In some cases, after the calculation iscomplete, the calculated route may notbe immediately displayed.

∙ If you scroll the map while the suggestedroute is being drawn, it may take moretime to finish drawing.

∙ If waypoints are set, the system calcu-lates multiple routes between waypointssimultaneously, and the following mayresult.

– If one section between waypointscannot be calculated, none of theroute will be displayed.

– The route may not connect com-pletely at some waypoints.

– The route may require a U-turnclose to some waypoints.

∙ Route calculation may not be completedin the following cases.

– If there is no main road within arange of 1.5 miles (2.5 km) from thevehicle, a message will then appearon the screen. Try recalculatingwhen the vehicle is closer to a mainroad.

– If the vehicle is too close to the des-tination or if there are no roads tothe destination, a message will thenappear on the screen.

– If it is impossible to reach the desti-nation or waypoints because of traf-fic regulations, etc.

– If the only target route to the desti-nation or waypoints is extremelycomplicated.

∙ The following may occur when the routeis displayed.

– If you calculate a route on a mainroad, the starting point of the routemay not exactly match the currentvehicle location.

– The endpoint of the route may notexactly match the destination.

– If you calculate a route on a mainroad, the system may display aroute from another main road. Thismay be because the position of thevehicle icon is not accurate. In thiscase, park the vehicle in a safe loca-tion and reset the vehicle icon, orcontinue driving to see if the posi-tion of the vehicle icon is automati-cally adjusted before recalculatingthe route.

This is because the quantity of the displayed informa-tion is reduced so that the screen does not becomedifficult to read. There is also a chance that names ofthe roads or locations may be displayed severaltimes, and the names appearing on the screen maybe different because of a processing procedure.

This is not a malfunction.

The vehicle icon is not displayed in the cor-rect position.

The vehicle was transported after the ignition switchwas turned off by a ferry or car transporter, forexample.

Drive the vehicle for a while on a road where GPS signalscan be received.

The position and direction of the vehicle icon may beincorrect depending on the driving environments andthe levels of positioning accuracy of the navigationsystem.
