How do you choose locations for a senior portrait session?First think of what your style is and then you can start to form better ideas of your locations. Typically we choose locations that are within walking distance or a very short drive so we can maximize your shoot time. Once you determine the ‘feel’ you want I help you decide on a backdrop that will suit your style. I will get to the first location ahead of time and scout for the best lighting and create a shot list so that the session flows seemlessly. We shoot outdoor on location with natural light and occassionally with studio lighting outdoors.

How do I maximize my outfits to get more diverse photos?How do I maximize my outfits to get more diverse photos?It is common for my seniors to bring half of their closet in the trunk of their car. Typically we try for three looks. If you are wanting more than three, my best suggestion is to wear layers. Jackets, jewelry, scarves, layered shirts and other accessories allow you to mix and match. Adding and taking away from an outfit saves time and gives you a fresh new look. Most seniors have a casual look, dressier look and then a look of your choice such as sports or cap and gown.

The senior will give me their ideas on their style and we will choose a location to shoot. I will start to create your website and get your information online. Sessions usually last 2 hours and mom or a best friend are welcome to come along and assist! Facebook sneak peaks are up within 24 hours and your final images are ready within 3 weeks. We will set a time to meet in my office and do your ordering session where you will see your images for the first time. Orders are delivered within 3-4 weeks. Do you offer incentives for referring new clients to you?YES! If you send a new client and they book a session with POPography you will receive a $100 print credit towards anything you wish. Be yourself! Think of your overall style and break it into three parts.

Casual, Dressed up & Fancy

You want to look and feel like the BEST you. You want to look and feel like the BEST you. We always suggest your comfy look first so that you can move comfortably as you get used to the camera. Then move into your dressed up look and finally finish in something you feel super fabulous in. Your location will definitely affect your Your location will definitely affect your outfits. Looking and feeling your best is key! Think about the season and the current trends that are happening right now. Keep true to your style and be prepared to change into three different looks. Layers and accessories will finish off the look and allow for versatile photos.

It is important to look like yourself in your senior photos. Try avoiding new haircuts, colors or extensions right before your session. Give a little extra volume or texture to vamp up the hair. Most importantly, make sure you feel beautiful.

Having your makeup professionally done is one of the greatest things you can treat yourself to. Our makeup artist uses MAC products and is fully certified to make your look flawless. She will come on-site and give you that Covergirl look you so desire. *See Sonia Sierra on page 12*

Drink plenty of water in the days prior to your session and make sure to avoid long sun exposure. Red, sunburned or peeling skin is not ideal for your photos. Makeup should take care of most blemishes, but we can zap most issues in photoshop! No worries!Guys- make sure to be careful with your shaving routine. Decide if you want to be clean cut or have a little scruff on the face.

Do you play sports? an instrument? have a quirky hobby? Let’s incorporate these talents and unique things about yourself into your photos. Cars and motorcyles are popular among guys and should be considered early for renting or borrowing. Styled shoots are very popular for girls. We have great relationships with vintage rentals in the area for great props for creating a themed session.
