the area, meet service providers and learn about home-delivered meals, home health care, social and recreational opportunities, transportation options and more. Refreshments will be served and prizes will be available.

“We call it our senior sample of home-sweet-home because it’s a sample of services you can access from your home if you’re no longer driving,” said Gayle McHenry, executive director of the Shepherd’s Center of Webster-Kirkwood, Inc.

There also will be information about opportunities for active seniors. “A big part of staying healthy is staying active and being social, so that’s part of what they’ll be able to learn about,” she said. “Webster Groves is really rich in what they have for senior activities.”

People will then have an opportunity to visit seven senior living communities at their convenience from 1 to 4 p.m.

“It’s a great opportunity for seniors and their adult children to come and see what’s out there for

when the time comes (when they may need services),” McHenry said, assuring there will be no high-pressure sales pitches.

This year’s Senior Sampler sites include:

• Bethesda Orchard House, 21 N. Old Orchard Ave. in Webster Groves, is the largest of Bethesda’s independent living communities. Nestled in the heart of Old Orchard, residents often frequent the nearby shops and restaurants. When they’re not out and about in the community, residents are often strolling the pathways and enjoying the gardens on the grounds. The dining room provides residents with a view of Bethesda Orchard’s park-like setting, overlooking the private gardens. The activities staff always make sure there’s something to do such as Bingo games or taking bus trips to local destinations.

The facility has 170 apartments with  a  variety  of  floor  plans  to choose from. Earlier this month, the
