INRODUCTIONWhen you hear the word rainforest you think of oh that something outside that has animals and has a lot of rain well that is practically right I mean a rainforest is something like that but to be sure a rainforest is like woods but these woods have a high percentage of rain. But not just rain it also has animals and plants. But not only do you want to know what a rainforest is you also want to know where the Amazon rainforest is located which is South America and the north, south and western hemispheres.

and 75 degrees south.

Human features

Page 4: Selina W. Block 5

I know you want to know about the human features. Well first you want to know how they live in the rainforest well they have to build a lot of what they want to do like to live in the house they had to build that house that they sleep in and the other activities. Okay now if you want to learn more go to my tribes.

Plant 1Okay one of the plants I did is called Orchid okay now you are thinking oh come hurry up and tell me about this wonderful flower. Okay well you probably want to know what its habitat is the orchids habitat is in the canopy area of the rainforest. But I forgot to tell you the “appearance” Of this orchid. Okay well these flowers are really

Page 5: Selina W. Block 5

colorful. And they have a great scent to them. That mean they smell really good. Okay now that we are done with the “appearance”. Let’s get back to like its habitat wait I already told you that now you want to know its uses like how it helps the rainforest. Well if you think about its appearance. Well this plant helps the rainforest because it has a good smell and it keeps the rainforest smelling good.

Plant 2Okay here is my second plant I did this one is called a strangler fig this strangler is a sort of kind a tree but it is still a plant. Okay well you want to know about its appearance well the appearance I got to tell you that this could also be called “killer” fig. That’s all the appearance I got to tell you now let’s go to its habitat like where does it live it lives on the forest floor/understory. Now not last but least its

Page 6: Selina W. Block 5

uses like how it helps the rainforest. But sorry to say this but this tree does not help the rainforest or people.

Sloth The Sloth is creature in the Amazon rainforest. This animal can hang upside down and eats berries. This animal is a consumer. These animals are also really slow moving animals. The sloth is an herbivore which means it eats only plants. It is not an omnivore which means it eats plants and animals or it is not a carnivore because it doesn’t eat meat. These animals are also a big help to the rainforest

Page 7: Selina W. Block 5

because it eats fruit from the rainforest. These animals can be found in the South Central America. This animal is not a predator or a prey. I don’t really know what this animals adoptions would be.

ToucanA toucan is a beautiful beautiful bird in the rainforest this is also a consumer. That eats fruits and berries. These birds can be found in the canopy/Central South America. Snakes can eat this wonderful animal. These birds cannot be called predator because it eats berries. A predator is where it kills and eats it prey and this animal does not even eat MOVING things. Now this animal can be called a prey because it has other organisms that eat it. This toucan had adaption like where it has to get use to the fact that it has other animals that eat it.

Forest floor- The very bottom of the rainforest

Understory- this is the layer where like it’s the middle of the rainforest.

Canopy- is right under the very top of the rainforest.

Emergent- is the very very top of the rain forest.

Now if you don’t really get how I told you take a look at the image!!!

Tribe 1 Okay well this first tribe is about Yanomami this is the largest relatively isolated tribe in South America. For thousands of years yanomami have thrived in the Amazon South America rainforest the yanomami has struggled because of the government. Because the government fails to protect them. But now let’s talk about how theyanomami lives. Well they live in this circular communal houses called yanos or shabonos. That’s what they live in some of these house’s can hold up to 400 people. Each family has this person who is responsible to have their meals done which is the cooking. At night hammocks are slung near the fire

Okay this is tribe 2 and we are going to talk about kayapo the Indian. The kayapo lives in villages dispersed the upper course of the iriri and more rivers. But the exact place where these Indians live is the vast plain lands of the Matto Grosso in Brazil, south of the Amazon Basin. In their area there is mining and lumber industry. They use earplugs for symbolize receptivity to others while a lip plug symbolize assertiveness. These Indians are also a highly evolved group ecologically.
