Selectron Employees increase their Ownership of the Company

With our focus on solutions for automation in Train Rolling Stock, we have been established successfullyfor a long time. During the last years, we have continuously expanded our market position and customerrelationships.

Thanks to our growth since our step out of the Schneider Electric Group in July 2009, we have been able toadapt the capital structure of the company on July 24:

The employees of Selectron increased their position in the capital structure of the company from 25 % to34% (blocking minority).

Our financial fund partner “Serena Capital” has reduced its share from 28 % to 13 %. A new Swisspartner “Capital Transmission SA”, a subsidiary of BCGE (Banque Cantonale de Genève), joined in.

With this even stronger involvement of the employees in the capital structure, we reinforce our motivationand means for the continuation of our successful strategy, aiming for customer satisfaction and innovationon solutions.

The Selectron team is looking forward to further successful collaboration with you!

New Selectron homepage

To mark the Innotrans, we have revamped our website with a new look & feel. The aim of the redesign hasbeen to concentrate more on presenting the context in which Selectron operates, as well as to representour range of products and services in an even more structured way. The clarity and menu system should bemade more intuitive. In doing this, we particularly kept in mind the needs of our customers and partners, aswell as potential job applicants. Another important goal was to make our website more international. Whynot take a look at www.selectron.ch to see if we have been successful in meeting our goals for you too.

Selectron at the InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin

18. – 21. September 2012Halle 6.2, Stand 123

At the InnoTrans 2012, Selectron Systems AG is taking its cue from "Train Automation – FromSpecification up to Service" and is going to present new, ground-breaking solutions and products foracross-the-board automation engineering and communication in rail vehicles. To enable you to make yourpreparations for the show more efficiently, we would like to preview our show presentation for you brieflyhere. This year, we are paying particular attention to consistent simplification of your processes from thefirst project planning through to support with looking after and maintaining vehicles.

Software

Efficient software tools for optimum support throughout the project. You can expect three new mainaspects in the software here:

Selectron Suite®: A new, interdisciplinary tool for simplified and efficient project design, for clearstructuring and as an efficient tool and project management.

Fleet diagnosis®: Web application for improved remote diagnosis. Rapid, detailed information about thevehicle condition such as vehicle position, fault status, etc. via Ethernet as well as integration in the

Selectron "Concerto®" diagnostic tool. This simplifies your maintenance process. This web application isindependent from the operating system, and offers possibilities for preventative vehicle maintenance, thusreducing your maintenance costs.

Maestro Designer®: Create elements that are and are not SIL-relevant on the new touchscreen display inorder to simplify control-relevant parts of the vehicle registration. Safety-relevant documents can be createdautomatically.A particular highlight here concerns the new widget for automatic topological representation of the hardwarecomponents used, which supports you in commissioning and troubleshooting. This tool makes it possible

for commissioning personnel to test the installation, including its cabling. The software application does nothave to be available at that point. As a result, it is possible to perform commissioning independently from anapplication. The entire project can thus be completed sooner, thereby saving significant costs.

Hardware

Wireless communication via WLAN, GSM, GPRS, UMTS for data transfer of diagnostic data, faultmessages, data for maintenance and servicing for remote diagnosis.

Crashproof data recorder for permanent recording of vehicle-relevant data for evaluating planned andunplanned vehicle behaviour.

Safety-relevant SIL controllers and displays in the complete system that significantly simplify theregistration process on rail vehicles as well as driver's cab automation.

New, SIL-capable displays for reducing safe and non-safe hardware components in the driver'spanel as well as for improved diagnosis. The SIL displays simplify vehicle registration.

New, smart and value-for-money remote I/O system for simplified sensor/actuator wiring.

Open TCMS network technologies such as Ethernet, CANopen, MVB and PROFINET for application-dependent, flexible network design.

Simple hardware components such as relays, power supply units and DC/DC converters.

Driver's cab simulator for training rail vehicle driversTogether with Berne University's Technology & IT department based in Biel / Switzerland, we are presentinga driver's cab simulator. You are warmly invited to try your hand at driving a locomotive.

Our customers' successes

DMU for Germany from Pesa

Pesa Bydgoszcz SA is a Polish company and on 20 December 2011 it won the contract to supply 12two-part diesel-powered railcars (DMU) to Netinera, a subsidiary of the Regentalbahn Railway. This is thefirst time Pesa has won a contract to supply a railway in Germany.

It is planned for the vehicles to be delivered between June and December 2014. The vehicles are going tobe used on the Regensburg – Marktredwitz – Schirnding line. Starting with the timetable change inDecember 2014, Netinera will begin operating under the company name of the Oberpfalzbahn Railway.

Selectron Systems AG will be supplying the entire TCMS portion, i.e. hardware and tools, which alsoinclude the new Selectron safety control system with MAS CPU 835-T/SIL and DDT 735-TG/SIL. Theentire vehicle engineering is carried out by Pesa under its own responsibility.

Bombardier together with Selectron at the FIFA World Cup and the OlympicGames

Bombardier Transportation Canada is going to be supplying new monorails to Brazil for the FIFAWorld Cup 2014 and the Olympic Games 2016. The TCMS system from Selectron is on board.

Bombardier Transportation will design, supply and install a 24-km INNOVIA Monorail 300 system for thenew Expresso Tiradentes line.

The new line, known as Expresso Tiradentes, will serve as an extension of the São Paulo Metro Line 2 andwill have, when fully equipped, the capacity to transport 48,000 passengers per hour per direction betweenthe Vila Prudente and Cidade Tiradentes urbanizations. This journey currently takes almost two hours andthe new INNOVIA Monorail 300 system will reduce the journey time to approximately 50 minutes, benefiting500,000 users daily.

Bombardier will design and supply system-wide E&M elements for the 24 km, 17 station INNOVIA Monorailsystem (typ 300). This project includes 54 seven-car trains (378 cars total). Cars are designed withCITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology for driverless operation, as well as providing projectmanagement, systems engineering and integration, testing and commissioning for the new trains andsignalling too.

For these 378 cars Selectron Systems will supply a fully redundant train control and monitoring system(TCMS) based on Selectrons product family MAS 83x

Engineering, design and testing for the monorail vehicles will be centered at Bombardier’s site in Kingston,Canada. Manufacturing of the initial cars will also be carried out at Bombardier's site in Kingston, Canada, and subsequent cars will be built in Brazil at Bombardier’s plant in Hortolândia. The entire system will becompleted in 2015.

What’s new?

Further reinforcing the consistent systematic approach

Dear Readers,

Increased concentration on software tools is a message that we want to bring to the fore at the InnoTrans2012. What is the background? TCMS must always be understood as more than a comprehensive system. We have understood from you, our customers, that the time and effort devoted to project planning,

programming, engineering, testing and commission is of great importance. We think it is high time that weaddressed this issue with new functions in our software tool chain. To achieve this, it is necessary to havenot only exacting quality requirements but also, and to a large extent, system continuity. In order to createsolutions here that are flexible, freely configurable and quick to implement, it is necessary to havecomponents that are matched to one another across the board, and which can be combined into an overall,project-specific TCMS without requiring significant engineering complexity. In this context, user tools, network technologies and control components are called for, as are services that are consistently matchedto one another. We have been pursuing this approach for several years now, but are also working hard toimprove it continuously. Our motivation in this matter is to allow you to raise your game when you are usingour products, so that you can offer decisive competitive advantages during discussions with yourcustomers. We will be delighted if we can succeed in achieving this together.

With best wishes,

Bernd RiedelMarketing & Strategy
