DESCRIPTION

Beneath Park Station in Johannesburg's CBD lies a network of tunnels once used to dispatch bags of mail. Up to 600 bags would shoot along conveyer belts form two post offices to railway platforms. From there, they would be railed to Table Bay and onto postal ships. The system, built in 1936, has fallen into disrepair. Its custodian, the Public Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa), has not decided what to do with the tunnels.
