Development of Subject Knowledge This will be recorded in your subject knowledge audits which must be updated regularly, as indicated within the audit document. Subject knowledge and skills will be developed throughout the course through: peer teaching sessions, Professional Studies (PS) based in university and in school, School Placement experiences, situated learning experiences. All Subject knowledge sessions will be enriched by skills sharing within peer practice groups and with the whole course cohort both within the tutor-supported sessions and specific activity input sessions conducted by Partnership PE colleagues. Peer-led input will also be used as a means of developing and auditing your developing pedagogical skills through planning of sessions, topic presentation and documentation of your input within the Professional Learning and Practice Portfolio (PLPP) The subject key reading/resources is cited for each session for you to select and read from the course texts - try and read these in advance so you can contribute to the session's discussions. Websites are also listed - although they are correct when listed, some websites may have altered location or content due to governmental changes as some national strategy websites are being withdrawn or moved. Institute of Education PGCE Secondary PE Programme Overview

As a general rule the Term 1 weekly programme will be as follows: Monday: Professional Studies with your Professional Studies Group Tuesday: Professional Studies (PS) School Wednesday: Situated Learning at Wellsway School or Norton Hill Thursday: Subject Day at Norton Hill School Friday: Directed Study or Subject Knowledge sessions (venues to be confirmed) Professional Studies activities will be detailed in the Professional Studies Programme

Session Title/Venue Situated Learning in a Specialised SEND Environment – Threeways School, Bath

Day/Date/Time Wednesday 12th September 2018 Session leader Kirk Bizley, Matt Knibbs and Specialised PE staff at Threeways Session overview An overview of the campus, provision and facilities of the Academy will

be given by the Principal and this will be followed with some team-teaching and BST led sessions working with the young people of the Academy and catering for their specific special needs. This will include some one-to-one input where appropriate and necessary

Learning outcomes • Understand how pupils learn • Understand the identification of pupils with SEN/D and know strategies to support them and overcome barriers to learning • Understand how to promote good behaviour through effective teaching • Know effective strategies to support the learning of underperforming groups and be able to challenge where motivation is low • Work with the new curriculum

Session content • Initially this will be through a presentation, and tour of the campus • This will be followed by situated learning experiences with particular groups in specific areas of the Academy • One teaching session will be led by the PE BSTs

which can be used and how these can be produced. Making use of ICT, particularly visual analysis software including Apps, iPads and iPods

Learning outcomes • Know how to use a range of approaches to teaching and learning (including ICT)

Session content • A theory workshop looking at the ways in which resources can be designed and produced, making use of the Internet for imagery, graphics, information and animations • A practical workshop with teaching led by the session leader as well as team and individual teaching from the PE group members where resources both used, and made available, are fully utilised.
