Search Quick Reference Search basics DISCO uses Westlaw- and Lexis-style search syntax with boolean search operators. Here are the basic search bar commands and operators. DISCO uses Westlaw- and Lexis-style search syntax with boolean search operators. Here are the basic search bar commands and operators.

Searches can be limited to search within the following fields, included below with search examples. Search queries that do not specify a field search document text, document notes, custodians, authors, subjects, to, from, cc, and bcc.

Date fields

Dates can be searched by date certain (12/10/2015); month and year (9/2016); or year (2012)

Range searches

Use to to search a range for example: date(10/16/2015 to 12/10/2015)

All date field searches have the additional range options to search before or after a date.

date(before…) date(after…)

1 recipient( ) searches all to, cc,

and bcc fields.

2 textlength( ) refers to number

of characters, including spaces.

3 filelength( ) refers to file length

in bytes.

4 folderpath( ) refers to folder or

parent folder from which the

document was collected.

5 date( ) refers to sent date for

email or last modified date for

any other file.

Tagging decisions can also be searched by dates applied and users applying them, using the syntax below.
