CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOU GRANITE COUNTERTOP

Sealing of your granite countertops Sealing of your granite countertops is the most important step in keeping your countertops looking

the best they can. Sealing or impregnation prevents the counters from staining. That’s why we at

Granite Tops are approved applicators of STAIN-PROOF Original™ and it is the only sealant product

we use. STAIN-PROOF Original™ is an impregnating, invisible and breathable sealer that protects

natural stone, tiles, pavers, concrete and grout from damage caused by water, salts and oil-based

stains. Treated indoor and outdoor surfaces become easier to clean, maintain, and keep looking

good for longer. A 15-YEAR PERFORMANCE WARRANTY is offered on all of our natural stone

products once the provided care guide is followed.

Regular cleaning of your countertops Regular cleaning of your worktops is essential to keep them looking at their best. There are many

different cleaners available from most supermarkets, all which essentially do the same job. Cleaners

such as window cleaner and antibacterial sprays can leave the surface with a greasy residue which

will show up marks when cups etc… are placed on the surface. For cleaning we recommend using

HANAFINN Rejuvenata™ (Available from our office for €20) as outlined in the STAIN-PROOF

Original™ care guide or Countertop Magic (Also available from our office for €6).

Important notes and precautions regarding your countertops All worktops leaving our factory will be sealed with STAIN-PROOF Original™. Whilst this

sealer is extremely effective in preventing stains, staining can still occur if spills are left to sit

on the countertop for long periods of time. We recommend wiping up any spillages as soon

as they occur as to prevent any possible staining.

If staining does occur do not try to remove the stain yourself. Please contact Granite Tops

for advice on how to remove the stain.

Although granite is an extremely hard and durable stone, chipping can occur when large or

heavy objects are dropped on the surface or edge.

Hairline cracking can occur when hot pots or pans taken directly off a hob or an oven and

placed on the counter. This is due to a rapid change in temperature (Thermal shock). We

recommend using place mates in areas around cooking or ‘hot rods’ as to prevent any

cracking.

To avoid scratches on your countertop we advise using chopping boards. Stone chopping

boards are available from Granite Tops at a cost of €30.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy your granite countertop for many years. If you ever have

any questions about your countertop feel free to contact us at any time.
