TIMELINE OF SCOUTING IN FRANCE• 1920 The Federation of Scouts de France founded by Father Jacques Sevin,

Canon Cornette and Edouard deMacedo. World Jamboree Olympia.

• Illustration 1921 Foundation French Federation of Scouts which includes 3 autonomous women's sections: Neutral, Protestant and Jewish.

• 1940-1944 The German occupation prohibits Scouting movement in the northern zone. They remain illegally

• 1947 The Jamboree of Peace brings to Moisson (Yvelines) 25,000 Scouts from 42 different nationalities. In the aftermath of global conflict, Scouting defends peace.

• 1954-1962 The war in Algeria created tensions within the Scouts of France

• 1960-1966 Educational Reform Scouts of France (1964) and Guides of France (1966) while standing Vatican II. The branch 12-17 is divided into 2 parts

• 1982 Opening of Scouts de France to girls.

•  In 1991, foundation Muslim Scouts of France is supported by the Scouts de France.

• Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs de France (founded in 1911, interreligious, 35,000 members)

• Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs unionistes de France (founded in 1911, Protestant, 5,000 members)

• Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs israélites de France (founded in 1923, Jewish)

• Scouts et Guides de France (founded in 2004 after the merger of Scouts de France (1920) and Guides de France (1923), Catholic, 70,000 members)

• Scouts Musulmans de France (founded in 1990, Muslim)

The Scout has team spirit. In my patrol, I accept everybody and I serve.

• Le scout prend soin de son corps. En patrouille, je me dépasse.

The Scout takes care for his body. In my patrol, I surpass myself.

• Dieu propose au scout, un chemin. En patrouille, je découvre en Jésus un ami.

God proposes a way to the Scout. In my patrol, I discover a friend in Jesus.

• Le scout respecte l’autre. Fille ou garçon, j’exprime mes sentiments.

The Scout respects other people. Girl or boy, I express my feelings.
