Purpose of this training…

• To get reacquainted with your teacher page• To inform of new features coming soon– Teacher/Integrator– Computerized Test• Once created, can be saved and reused• Once assigned to a class, No test the same• Automatic grading • Grade book

Teacher Site

• Applications– Are Hard coded– A few you can change• Custom Page• Start• Home

– Can customize how the title appears• Example: Getting to Know Mrs. Metz• Make it your own

Teacher Page Capabilities

• Upload Presentations– No size limit– Keep in mind your audience

• Use Photo Album– You control whether the photos go “live”

• Changing systems??– Don’t delete; just “move” your records

General Information

• Entering Assignments– Classes must be assigned first

• Video Tutorials– 2 - 4 minute video tutorials for sections

Login to School Website-Staff Portalhttp://samsonhs.genevacountyschools.com/

Select Area: Teacher SectionChoose a teacher: Find Your Name

Applications To Use

Page Settings

• Decide what is seen– Put a check under STATUS Column• Turns ON or OFF

• Select your Start Page – By clicking the radial button

• Defaults to Education, Experience, and Bio• Control what is seen– You do not have to display all 3

Call It What You Want

• Rename it! It’s up to you!– Class schedule– Summer Reading List– Supply List– Other Class Info (Ex: Class Rules/Expectations)

• Once changed, be sure to Click SAVE

File Manager

• Use as a Catch-ALL to:• Save documents• Downloads• Forms

• Can access these where Internet is available

Calendar

• Add assignments/lesson plans to the calendar– Public – Private

Links

Just an idea:Use your LINKS app

Place various links/URLs in the folder• Use for test bonuses/extra credit • Assign questions from the resources• Have students use the school website to email

you their assignment.

Make your Teacher Page Fun!

• Be Creative

• Create a Voki

Wait!...What?

What is a Voki?

• Have any of you heard of Avatars?– Animated people or characters.

• Todays students -tech savvy and video crazy• Think outside the box

• Create customized avatars

• Add voice to your Voki avatars• Use them as a learning tool• Post your Voki to any blog, website, or profile

Suggestion

• Each week select a “student of the week”• Allow him to create a Voki– Let him record the assignments of the week– Or an announcement/quote of the week

• Students will most likely share with parents• This is a great way to get parental involvement• Most likely, parents will revisit your page

It’s EASY!!!

• Go to www.voki.com

• Creating an account is FREE

• If you do not wish to save your Voki– Creating an account is not necessary

• Didn’t I say…it is FREE

Click the CREATE Tab

Lots of options!

Have fun with it!

• Add audio by using the keyboard– computerized voice – Choose the accent

• OR…Record your own

Once created…

• Publish your Voki• Click the Green button• A dialogue box appears

Locate the embed code

• Click COPY• Go back to your teacher page – Make sure you are logged in to• Teacher Section and Your Name

• (I used my Custom Page)• Locate the Html button – Left click to paste copied code in the window– Click SAVE

Re-Visit Your Teacher Page

• Be sure to click REFRESH • Or Open a New Tab• May take a few seconds to cycle and upload

BTW…

• My students have loved creating Vokis!

• Look for virtual worlds and virtual classrooms– (ACCESS is promoting this)
