PANEL 1. A busy street in a town which appears similar to New York. The shot is high and wide

so that we can see the horizon clearly, looking down at the hundreds of citizens as they shuffleabout their daily routines. In the distance, a faint yellow glow is seen rising, as if the sun were

rising and sickly.

CAP/VINCENT:It's the same every time.

PANEL 2. Same as above, though a few people have stopped and are pointing up to the sky. Theglow has grown significantly larger.

CAP/VINCENT:It's a typical day, but there's something happening in the background.

PANEL 3. The glow grows larger, beginning to dwarf the city. All those on the street below have

noticed. Some are pointing and looking at those around them. Others are fleeing, trying to find arefuge. Cars have stopped. Traffic is haphazardly aligned. The world has, for all intents and

purposes, ground to a halt.

CAP/VINCENT:We realize too late what's happened. Some opportunistic fool has made his move, and there's

nothing we can do about it.

PANEL 4. The glow engulfs the street, a wave of terror and death washing over the citizensbelow, as those nearest go first. For those closest to the blast, flesh is peeled away from bones,

skeletons falling to the ground as they recoil in terror. For those progressively farther back, theprocess begins to take effect, up to those farthest from the blast, scrambling desperately to

escape both this wave of terror and the mutilated monstrosities before them.

CAP/VINCENT:The world has come to an end. There's no one left to save us.

PAGE 2 (4 Panels)

PANEL 1. A wide panel. Running the length of the panel is VINCENT, laying on a psychiatrist's

couch. His legs are crossed at the ankles, his hands clasped on his chest. His eyes are closed, hisbrow furrowed as if he is recalling a painful memory.

VINCENT:

Then I wake up, covered in sweat. It's been the same thing every night this week.

PANEL 2. The reverse of Panel 1. To the side, sitting in a large leather chair, we see aPSYCHIATRIST, looking at Vincent out of the corner of his eyes as he scrawls notes on the lastfew pages of a legal pad.

PSYCHIATRIST:Vincent, why do you think you keep having this dream?

VINCENT:

I think...I think it's not just a dream.

PANEL 3. The psychiatrist stops writing and looks up over his paper at Vincent, who is holding hishands over his eyes.

PSYCHIATRIST:

Oh?

VINCENT:It just feels...real. Like it's going to happen...like...

PANEL 4. Same shot as Page 1, Panel 4, colored in a washed out, almost water colored tone. A

unique style, which will be used consistently to represent things which occur within Vincent's

mind.

CAP/VINCENT:

Like maybe it's already happened.

PAGE 3 (5 Panels)

PANEL 1. Vincent begins to sit up on the chair. The psychiatrist is jotting down more notes.

PSYCHIATRIST:

Well, Vincent...I'm hard pressed to admit that it doesn't seem-

VINCENT:Like much has changed, right? Sorry to disappoint.

PSYCHIATRIST:Nonsense!

PANEL 2. The Psychiatrist looks up over his notes, pointing at Vincent with his pen.

PSYCHIATRIST:You've been in the program for years. And we insist on helping you through your situation. We're

not looking to kick you out, but we do want to make strides towards your rehabilitation.

PANEL 3. Cut back to Vincent, now sitting upright on the chair, his hands awkwardly folded intohis lap, staring awkwardly at the floor.

PSYCHIATRIST:

Tell me...do you remember anything? Anything at all?

VINCENT:No. None of it. The past five years are still just a blank spot.

PANEL 4. The psychiatrist rises to open the door. Vincent follows behind him.

PSYCHIATRIST:Do you seriously believe you could be seeing flashes of your memories? That this dream couldhave actually happened already?

VINCENT:

Maybe, but even then...how do I tell the difference between a bad dream and a lost memory?

PSYCHIATRIST:

Hm...you do have a point there.

PANEL 5. The psychiatrist opens the door. Vincent stands at the door and shakes the

psychiatrist's hand.

PSYCHIATRIST:Unfortunately, we seem to be out of time...

VINCENT:

Hey, we've got nothing but time, right? Thanks for everything.

PANEL 1. Vincent, his head down and his hands in his pockets, walks out of the office. The

psychiatrist watches as he walks through the main office.

PANEL 2. Vincent exits the clear glass door of the psychiatrist's office, entering a street not toodifferent from the one in his dream.

CAP/VINCENT:

Another session, another failure. The program has helped me out a lot, though. Helping me find

an apartment and giving me a monthly stipend to live off of on account of my mental health. Orlack thereof. Whatever.

PANEL 3. A wide panel. Vincent walks down the street, hands in his pocket, looking up atbuildings as he passes them.

CAP/VINCENT:

My name is Vincent Drake. I woke up one day and realized I couldn't remember anything from

the past five years. Five years, just a complete blank.

PANEL 4. Vincent passes a wrecked building, flags and golden plaques placed around it.

CAP/VINCENT:

My family insisted there wasn't much to forget. I was a student at a local community college, studying to be an electrician.

PANEL 5. Vincent walks up and brushes his hand up against one of the plaques.

CAP/VINCENT:

The only thing my mother says she regrets me forgetting is seeing the end of heroes. She said I

had watched every news item, every clipping religiously.

PAGE 5 (3 Panels)

PANEL 1. Vincent lowers his head and walks away, his fingers lingering along the edge of the

golden plaque.

CAP/VINCENT:But then...they left. Almost as suddenly as the heroes had appeared decades ago, the war came

to a violent, screeching halt.

PANEL 2. Vincent passes the building, several posters with Anti-Hero propaganda and graffiti on

the side of it.

CAP/VINCENT:

One of the villains in the battle created a device that he said would enslave all humanity. And inthe ensuing battle, large numbers of villains were killed, as were large numbers of heroes.

Finally, after decades of violence, the government decided it was time for regulations. The few

villains who were surviving were captured and executed, ending the vicious cycle of psychopaths

being released on mental incompetence pleas.

PANEL 3. A close-up of one of the posters, showcasing a group of heroes. One of the visible

heroes in the front row, displayed prominently is SAVIOUR. Beside Saviour is SICCARIO, hisformer sidekick. Also featured is MAGI, a man wearing an ornate costume and wielding a katana,

he appears to be a magician of some sort. Other heroes of varying appearance are in this shot.

CAP/VINCENT:But more importantly, the heroes in the final battle were either killed in violent combat or

disappeared silently afterward, feeling they had failed the people they swore to protect.

Heroes like Saviour, Sicarii and others were never heard from again...

PAGE 6 (6 Panels)

PANEL 1. Vincent turns into an alley, facing a side entrance door of an abandoned hotel, one hand

digging around in his pocket.

CAP/VINCENT:We've all wondered where they went. A lot of us even hate them. We're living in broken down

slums, all that's left after their final battles and they couldn't even come out of hiding and help usrebuild.

PANEL 2. Vincent steps into the hotel. There are a few rows of doors along either side of thebuilding, and flights of stairs leading to higher up doors. Opposite Vincent a lobby is evident, but

is run down and has not been used in some time. Vincent turns to one of the doors near the

center and pushes the key in.

CAP/VINCENT:The age of heroes ended with them being no better to us than the villains were.

PANEL 3. Vincent closes the door behind him. The room is very empty. There are a few basicamenities: a couch, an old TV, a tray sitting beside the couch, and a closet with no door in thebackground. There is a kitchen to the side with a sink full of dirty dishes and a stove covered with

pots and pans. A small, very old refrigerator finishes off the kitchen. Amidst all the dirt andgrime, in the center of the living room is an almost pristine electric guitar and amp.

CAP/VINCENT:

I've tried my best not to hate them, but shortly after I was found amnesiac, the final wave of theircrisis kicked in. My mother and sister were both killed. They were just trying to get some fresh

bandages for the wounds on my head.

PANEL 4. Vincent wraps his hand around the neck of the guitar slowly, deliberately.

CAP/VINCENT:I suppose I could blame myself just as easily...but they had all left. The only hero left was

Saviour's partner, Sicarii. He came to visit me afterward, but could only offer his condolences.

PANEL 5. Vincent picks up the guitar, his fingers near the strings and preparing to play it, when a

knock comes at the door.

CAP/VINCENT:The heroes ran away and my family paid the price.

AISLAN/O.P.:Hello? Vincent?

PANEL 6. Vincent, still holding the guitar, his head down, speaks softly without turning towards

the door.

VINCENT:Yes?

AISLAN/O.P.:

Vincent...could you come give me a hand?

PANEL 2. Vincent has now opened the door and is talking to Aislan who stands outside. The

guitar is the main focus in the foreground. On the strings are bits of what appears to be dried

blood.

VINCENT:Seriously? I can't believe its still leaking.

AISLAN:Yeah, well, what can we do? They already don't like us living out here, they're certainly not goingto send us any help.

VINCENT:

Alright. Lets go see what we can do.

Ah, not too bad. I think I can...

SFX.:

KLANG!

VINCENT:

Ah, crap.

PANEL 2. Vincent's legs begin to kick under the sink. Aislan puts the coffee down and begins to

move towards him.

AISLAN:

VINCENT:

PANEL 3. Vincent sits up outside the sink, his head and the top of his shirt soaking wet.

VINCENT:

Alright, I taped it up enough now that..

AISLAN:

VINCENT:

AISLAN:Alright, alright....thank you. Have some coffee? You can at least keep me company while you're

PANEL 1. Vincent takes a seat at the table, holding the cup of coffee between his hands.

VINCENT:

Where's Stephen at?

AISLAN:Eh, you know him. If he's not at work, he's off with Ray trying to stir up more Anti-Hero

sentiment. They both really think they're going to make a return one day soon.

PANEL 2. Vincent holds the coffee up to his lips.

VINCENT:Ray? You didn't let him take Katherine did you?

AISLAN:

Lord no, she's asleep in her room. Ray's only been out of jail for a few months, I'm not going to

let Stephen screw up and let that monster prey on his daughter again. I'm already think itsinsane for Stephen to be so forgiving.

PANEL 3. Aislan swirls at the coffee with a spoon.

AISLAN:I don't know, it just...something doesn't feel right about it. I'm terrified that something is going

to happen.

VINCENT:So take Katherine and leave. I don't think anyone would blame you.

AISLAN:Stephen and I aren't legally married, remember? I do that, I'll be charged with kidnapping. Thenshe won't have anyone to protect her. And besides, I do still love him.

VINCENT:

Hrmph.

PANEL 4. Aislan looks up from her coffee at Vincent, who appears to be angry.

AISLAN:

VINCENT:

PANEL 2. Vincent's hand grows tighter around the guitar neck.

CAP/VINCENTIts gotten to the point that I've been standing here...staring at this closet.

PANEL 3. A close up of Vincent's face.

CAP/VINCENTAnd part of me realizes that its pure insanity. After all...its a wall.

PANEL 4. Vincent lifts the guitar up.

CAP/VINCENT

And all I'm holding in my hand is a $600 guitar, the last remnant of my family.

CAP/VINCENT

But it still drives deeper into my skull, until finally I ask myself how much damage I can do withthis guitar...

Tears are welling up in the corners of his eyes

PANEL 4. Vincent reaches towards the camera, his face in shock, tears streaming down his eyes.

CAP/VINCENT

Oh, God. Katherine, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that I forgot...
