Remote-sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) are becoming increasingly important tools for
scientists and scientists as these systems link information to precisely adjusted physical locations, and
integrate information drawn from numerous sources. The success of satellite pictures and aerial
photographs for identifying and studying sites like the above was recognized from early days of aviation
and the imagery has become available from an array of aircraft and high-resolution satellite carried
detectors and LIDAR that offer increased potential for investigating or researching these sites of
significance.
Satellite images has been employed by government, industrial, industrial, civilian, and educational
communities across the world. The data is used to guide a wide range of applications in such places as
archaeology, farming, forestry, mining, engineering, design, and creating 3D dimensional models (DEMs)
and fly throughs.
