4. FIRST AID MEASURES:

Eye contact: Wash eyes immediately with plenty of water for15 minutes.

Skin contact: Remove from skin and wash with soap and wateror clean water. Obtain medical attention ifirritation continues, or if other conditions arise.

Inhalation: Move into the open air. If symptoms persist seekmedical attention.

Ingestion: Get medical attention immediately.

Notes for medical staff: Treat according to specific exposure conditions.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES:

FLASH POINT: 26.1 ºF / -3.3 º C (Closed cup Pensky-Martens)AUTO IGNITION TEMPERATURE: 665.6 ºF / 352º CFLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR: Lower limit: 1.50 % Upper limit: 14.65 %SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:

In the event of large fires, use AFFF foam compatible with alcohol oratomized water (mist). To combat small fires use AFFF foam compatible with alcohol,CO₂ or atomized water (mist). Water can be used to cool containers exposed to fire.PROTECTON OF FIREFIGHTERS:

Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing must beused when dealing with fires involving chemical products. Determine the need toevacuate or isolate the area in accordance with local emergency criteria.SPECIFIC RISKS:

Vapours are heavier than air and may move toward an ignition sourceand become ignited. Static electricity can build up and ignite the vapours. Prevent apossible fire risk by grounding or purging with inert gas. The fire is more intense thanexpected.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:

CLEAN UP METHODS:Remove any possible ignition sources. Determine, according to

emergency planning in your area, if the area should be evacuated or isolated. Followall the instructions in sections 5 and 8 regarding personal protection equipment. In thecase of large spills, use dikes or other contention methods to avoid further spreadingof the material. If it’s possible to pump the material accumulated in the dike, store therecovered material in an appropriate container. Clean residual spill materials with anappropriate absorbent substance. Clean the area appropriately, as some silicone based

materials, even if in small quantities, may present a slip risk. Final cleaning mayrequire the use of steam, solvents or detergents. Dispose of the saturated absorbentmaterial, or cleaning materials appropriately, as they may heat up spontaneously.Local, regional and state and laws and regulations should be checked before thedisposal of the material. The same applies to materials and equipment used in theclean up and destruction process. It’s necessary to determine which laws andregulations must be applied to the above mentioned materials. Sections 13 and 15 ofthe MDMS contain information with regards to regional and state requirements.Note: See Section 8 for Personal Protection in the case of spills. After cleaningeliminate traces with water.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE:

Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid contact with skin. Avoidbreathing vapours. Keep containers tightly closed. Do not ingest.Static electricity can build up and ignite the vapours. Prevent a possible fire risk bygrounding or purging with inert gas. Keep containers away from heat, sparks andflame.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

TOXICITYCAS Nº COMPONENT NAME Exposure limit107-46-0 Hexametildisloxano HMDS CL50/oral/rat => 87mg / l (calculated)

Toxicological component data (information provided by product supplier)The lack of relevant findings from studies conducted on human subjects permits theuse of HMDS for approved uses.Special component risk informationNone available.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

ENVIRONMENTAL FATEAir: Volatile siloxanes with low molecular weight in air decompose by reaction withhydroxyl radicals, which is the principal decomposition process for the majority ofchemical compounds present in the atmosphere.Water: Volatile siloxanes with low molecular weight have very low hydrosolubility andevaporate into the air.Earth: Volatile siloxanes with low molecular weight in the ground are eliminatedthrough various simultaneously occurring processes including volatilization, hydrolysisand catalysing decomposition with clay.

ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICITYAquatic toxicity:This product is volatile and has a short half-life in water; it therefore presents nodanger to aquatic life.Terrestrial toxicity:As a result of its volatility, it’s unlikely to be found in earth.Bioaccumulation:Volatile siloxanes with low molecular weight become bioconcentrated in fish exposed

to the material under controlled laboratory conditions, which do not represent naturalatmospheric conditions.

FATE AND EFFECTS IN RESIDUAL WATER TREATMENT PLANTSVolatile siloxanes with low molecular weight are effectively eliminated (>90%) duringresidual water treatment with quantities approximately equivalent transferred into theatmosphere and mud. Volatile siloxanes with low molecular weight in treated residualwater will be limited to particulate matter, due to its very low hydrosolubility.

ECOTOXICITY CLASSIFICATION CRITERIAHazard parameters (CL50 oe CE50) High Medium LowAcute aquatic toxicity (mg/L) <=1 >1 and <=100 >100Acute terrestrial toxicity <=100 >100 and <=2000 >2000

This table is adapted from the “Environmental Toxicology and Risk Assessment”, ASTMSTP 1179, p34, 1993.This table can be used to classify ecotoxicity of the product when detailed in the aboveecological information section. Please read carefully all the information contained inthe section on environmental hazards.
