LA LADRA DI RICORDI

BARBARABELLOMO

Salani presents a new, sharp female author for a very Italian thril-ler. The first case for Isabella De Clio, archaeologist.

Disillusionedwith life, and men, she is finishing a scholarship that could get her inthe circuit of the most important museums in the world. Then academiais suddenly shaken by the inexplicable murder of a woman with a darkpast, which has to do with a precious cameo from the Augustan age. It isthis cameo that involves Isabella in the investigation, alongside charmingInspector Caccia, tired of family routine and a huge jazz fan, GiacomoNardi, a widower and depressed professor of museology and culturalheritage, and the nephew of the victim. The cameo triggers a story thatweaves the Rome of I century B.C. with contemporary Italy.

IL TESTAMENTODEL CONTE INVERARDI

LUIGIVALLONCINI

LANDI

Over a century of scandals and secrets of the Italian nobility toldthrough the memories of a country doctor

« The clinical and human experience I have gained in over fifty years ofwork is so amazing and exciting that I chose to write this novel, in whichI describe the two worlds with which I came in contact: the aristocrats, and the peasants and staff at their service. Two distinct worlds: the firstare used to living in luxury, with affairs, love, betrayal, illegitimate chil-dren, duels, revenges and reconciliations. The latter – the peasantsand servants – lived in complete dependence on their aristocratic mas-ters, owning huge mansions with hundreds of rooms to keep cleanand vast lands to cultivate. In this novel I have told many stories experi-enced firsthand or that were told to me. What emerged was the frescoof a world that no longer exists, a family saga that perhaps was worthtelling before my generation disappears forever, with the hope that itwill thrill many readers... »

From Downtown Abbey to the noble families of Lombardy: the timelesscharm of aristocracy.

Luigi Valloncini Landi (1929) graduated in Medicine and Surgery in1954 and for half a century has worked as a doctor. After retiring in2004, he devoted himself to writing. Il testamento del conte Inverardiis his first novel.

MARISARANIERI

PANETTA

Messalina was only twenty-three years old when she was stabbed by im-perial assassins. For seven years she had been the most envied and ad-mired woman of Rome, since her husband, the fifty-year-old Claudius, had succeeded to Caligula on the imperial throne. At that time, she com-mitted so many crimes and perversions that her name has become sy-nonymous with villainy over the centuries: Messalina was more lasciviousthan Cleopatra, more dissolute than Poppea, more intriguing than Agrip-pina. But do these charges correspond to the truth? Or maybe the dam-natio memoriae to which the Senate condemned her has made it easierto blame her for crimes she did not commit? This book analyses from every angle the transgressions of the bold Em-press, tracing those events through the pages of the ancient historians. The author outlines a portrait of Messalina without prejudice, collectingthe few traces left of her, digging in the background of history.
