Today concludes a three-week series of Gospel texts in which we have listened to a total of seven parables about the Kingdom. The believer is asked to consider the request that God made of Solomon in today’s first reading: “Ask something of me and I will give it to you” (1 Kings 3:5). Today’s parables about the treasure buried in the field and the pearl of great price should prompt us to answer, “A share in your kingdom, O God!” Today we discover that the kingdom of God is beyond value, a priceless treasure. Unfortunately, our culture bombards us with things that it believes are priceless treasures—the bigger and better SUVs, anti-aging and anti-balding creams and salves, miracle diets, and so much more. Having a share in God’s king-dom and helping to bring about that kingdom are the greatest treasures that we can ever hope to gain. Please continue to support the church during these difficult times when we are not gathering for Sunday Mass. Hoy concluye la tercera semana de una serie de textos del Evangelio en que hemos escuchado un total de siete parábolas sobre el Reino. Se pide al creyente que considere el pedido que Dios hace a Salomón en la primera lectura de hoy: “pídeme lo que quieras, y yo te lo daré” (1 Reyes 3:5). Las parábolas de hoy sobre el tesoro enter-rado en el campo y la perla de gran precio nos debería empujar a responder: “¡Una participación en tu Reino, oh Dios!” Hoy descu-brimos que el Reino de Dios es invalorable, un tesoro que no tiene precio. Desafortunadamente, nuestra cultura nos bombardea con cosas que considera tesoros inapreciables: vehículo utilitario deporti-vo, cremas antiarrugas y contra la calvicie, dietas milagrosas, y mu-cho, mucho más. CREATE A FAMILY PRAYER SPACE AT HOME In the coming weeks, families will be spending more time together at home. One good use of this time would be to pray together on a regular basis. This prayer time together can be en-hanced by creating a place in your home dedicated to prayer. Making a place for prayer in our home can help us do what the Gospel tells us, to go into an “inner room” to pray (Matthew 6:6). Make your prayer place as quiet, uncluttered, and “desert-like” as possible. It can be the corner of a room or any unused space. Fur-nish your prayer place with a Bible, prayer books, cross, rosary, icons, and a candle. Encourage family members to use the prayer place for personal as well as family prayer. You can bless your place of prayer, saying: Come, Holy God. Dwell in this place of prayer, and bless it with your peace and presence. Bless all who seek you here. Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

CREAR UN ESPACIO DE ORACIÓN FAMILIAR EN EL HOGAR En las próximas semanas, las familias pasarán más tiempo juntas en casa. Un buen uso de este tiempo sería rezar juntos de forma regular. Este tiempo para rezar juntos puede estimularse creando en su casa un espacio dedicado a la oración. Hacer un lugar en la casa dedicado a la oración puede ayudarnos a hacer lo que el Evangelio nos dice, estar en una “habitación interior” para rezar (Mateo 6, 6). Haz tu lugar de oración tan tranquilo, limpio y “como desierto” lo más posible. Puede ser la esquina de una habitación o un espacio desocupado. En este lugar coloca una Biblia, libros de oracio-nes, una cruz, un rosario, imágenes de santos y si es posible una vela-dora. Anima a tus familiares a que visiten este lugar de oración para la oración personal o familiar. Puedes bendecir ese lugar con la siguiente oración: Ven Dios. Ven a vivir en este lugar de oración, y santificalo con tu paz y presencia. Bendice a quienes aquí te busquen. Oramos en nom-bre de Jesús. Amén.
