Sympatex membrane technologycombined with the manufacturingskills, knowledge and experience of

Giffard Newton’s staff, have ensuredthat firefighters will have confidence inthe waterproof and breathable qualitiesof the product, while ensuring theirsafety in the harshest environments.

The Sympatex waterproof, breathablemembrane has been designed to providethe highest levels of protection andcomfort in footwear.

SYMPATEX INFOOTWEARThe unique properties ofSympatex fall into anumber of categories:-

BREATHABILITY - The outstandingly high levels of breathability areattained through the use of a novel type of hydrophilic polyestermembrane.

WATERPROOFNESS - Footwear fabrics laminated with Sympatex achievewaterproof levels equivalent to the pressure of more than 10 metres ofwater (14.5psi).

WINDPROOFNESS - The Sympatex membrane provides perfectprotection against wind and convective heat loss. Ability to withstandhigh wind levels, allows the use of less insulation than would benormally required making footwear warm and comfortable.

MECHANICAL STRENGTH - Sympatex is practically isotropic allowinghigh stretch properties in all directions. This ability, allied to highstrength in loadings provides for an extremely durable lining.

BARRIER PROPERTIES AGAINST BACTERIA - Tests conducted onbacteria such as Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcusaureaus ATCC 26923 found the membrane to be impermeable to liquidsand micro-organisms.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - The Sympatex membrane complies with DINstandard 32 763 to provide resistance to caustic soda, nitric,hydrochloric and sulphuric acids.
