This Visitors Ride Guide will help you navigate the various choices you have from Local Buses, Metro Subway, Light Rail and MARC Train (an excellent choice for a weekday trip to our nation’s capital in Washington, DC). We thank you for visiting us, and we hope you enjoy your stay in Maryland! How To Use The Guide Use the MTA Visitors Ride Guide to quickly determine which MTA mode will take you to the attractions you want to visit. Refer to the “Places to See” listings on the other side of this brochure. Each listing features the name, location, and MTA service modes for each attraction. It also has a map grid reference designation (example: Inner Harbor B-7). Simply match the letters and numbers on the sides of the map that correspond with each grid reference designation to locate attractions. The Visitors Ride Guide also features hotel listings. You may use the same map grid reference system to quickly determine where you’re staying in relation to where you want to go. Fares MTA Local Buses, Light Rail and Metro Subway: $1.60 one- way, $3.20 round trip, $3.50 Day Pass (allows unlimited daily travel on Local Buses, Light Rail, and Metro Subway). Seniors (age 65+) and Individuals with Disabilities: $.55 one-way, $1.20 Day Pass. Eligibility for Senior/Disability Reduced Fares: Senior Citizens (age 65+), Persons with Disabilities, and Medicare cardholders must show one of the following to be eligible for reduced fares on MTA transit services: • A valid MTA Senior/Disability photo ID card, OR • Any valid government issued photo ID card with proof of age, OR • A valid disability ID from another transit agency and any valid government issued photo ID, OR • A Medicare card and any valid government issued photo ID. MARC Train fares range from $4.00 to $14.00 one-way. From Baltimore you can reach Washington, DC for only $7.00. There are special reduced fares for seniors and individuals with disabilities who meet eligibility requirements ($2.00 - $7.00 one-way). Up to two children under age 6 may ride free with each person paying full fare. Call 1-800-325-RAIL for schedule and fare information, refer to a MARC Train timetable available at MARC Train stations, or visit www.mtamaryland.com. General Information Smoking, eating, drinking, playing radios or audio devices without earphones, and loud or profane language are not permitted by law on MTA Buses, Light Rail and Metro Subway. Bicycles are permitted on Local Buses (front- mounted bike racks), Light Rail and Metro Subway. Only folding bicycles are permitted on MARC Train. Special Events/Attractions Orioles Baseball at Camden Yards: (April-September) Take Light Rail to the Camden Yards Stop for direct access to the ballpark. Or, take Metro Subway to the Lexington Market or Charles Center West stations. Ravens Football at M&T Bank Stadium: (August-December) Take Light Rail to the Hamburg Street Stop. Or, take Metro Subway to Lexington Market or Charles Center stations. Preakness at Pimlico: (3rd Saturday in May) Take Metro Subway to the Rogers Avenue Station and then take the connecting shuttle to Pimlico. Or, take Light Rail to the Cold Spring Lane Stop and then take the connecting shuttle to Pimlico. Artscape: (July) Take Light Rail to the University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal Stop, Cultural Center Stop, or Centre Street Stop for direct access, or Metro Subway to State Center/Cultural Center Station. Maryland State Fair: (11 days ending Labor Day) Take Light Rail to the Timonium Stop for direct access to the Fairgrounds. (Other special events throughout the year.) MTA Local Bus The MTA operates 51 Local Bus lines throughout the Baltimore area. Many Bus lines connect with major hotels in the metropolitan area. Exact fare is required. • Smoking, eating, drinking, audio devices without earphones, and loud or profane language are not allowed onboard. • Listen for the operator stop announcements. • Press the yellow strip to alert the operator that you want to exit. • Exit through the back door when possible and take all your belongings with you. • All Buses are lift or ramp equipped; many have kneeling capabilities. • All Buses offer priority seating for seniors and individuals with disabilities. • Most Buses have audio and visual stop announcements. • Many Local Buses are equipped with front-mounted bicycle racks. MARC Train (Weekdays Only) MARC Train Service is the most convenient and affordable way to travel between Baltimore and Washington, DC on weekdays. MARC offers three lines: Penn Line from Perryville, MD (Cecil County) to Baltimore and Washington, DC; Camden Line from Downtown Baltimore to Washington, DC; and Brunswick Line from Martinsburg, WV or Frederick, MD to Washington, DC. MARC Train fares are based on distance. One-way adult fares range from $4.00 to $14.00 . There are special low rates ( $2.00-7.00 one-way) for seniors and individuals with disabilities. MARC Train monthly tickets are also valid for MTA Local Buses, Neighborhood Shuttles, Light Rail, and Metro Subway. MARC Ticket-by-Mail program and MARC Transit Link Cards (TLC) are available through www.commuterdirect.com. A MARC TLC Card, for an additional $80 per month, extends monthly ticket services to include unlimited travel on WMATA Metrorail and Metrobuses in the DC area, and RIDE ON buses in Montgomery County, MD.
