INTRODUCTION

The project is a wind belt generator that will be used to charge a modern cell phone battery.

Requirements//Components: Wind: Energy source which cause oscillation. Magnets: Excite Coils/Faraday’s Law. Coils: Induces a magnetic field, that causes

charge at the load . Membrane: Moves magnets to change magnetic

field causing voltage. Rectifier: ADC converter. Battery: Load, and holds charge.

MILESTONES ACCOMPLISHED:-

DESIGN COMPONENT

Figure 1. Block Diagram of the wind belt

RECTIFIER

Using four matched diodes with pairs of diodes oriented in opposite directions.

Aiming to create a DC signal using an AC signal as an input. When the input signal changes from positive

input to negative input, the output signal is only within the positive plane.

The figure below demonstrates the orientation of the diodes.

Figure 2. Bridge Rectifier

THE FRAME

PVC plastic piping will be used for its rigidity. Metal won’t be used for the fear that it would

negatively affect the magnets and the magnetic flux.

THE FRAME

RECTIFIER MINIMUM INPUT VOLTAGE = 0.74V

using the function generator, the necessary voltage to turn on the rectifier in the forward active regime is 0.74 V

ISSUES/CONCERNS

Frame size for oscillation.  Time to charge the battery. (may take a long

time to charge) Might blow the battery.
