The work carries on...! Two years ago, The Growing Ruabon Group – led by Jo and
Bill Smith - planted over 400 trees in Cemetery Wood.
Dozens of people of all ages were (and still are) involved in
this project, to establish another area into the village
where residents and families are able to relax – well away
from the frenetic building programme which is ‘gobbling up’
the ‘free space’ around us.
Last weekend ‘paths’ were marked out in the long grass by
Jo and Bill Smith and Paul Bickley, to encircle more planting
areas and make walking easier.
On Thursday this week the Brownies and Guides are not
able to have their meeting in the Village Hall because of the
elections – instead they will be helping Jo and Bill to plant
more trees in Cemetery Wood – then as they grow so will
the children – taking pride in their legacy to the community.

The Friends of Ruabon will meet at the Village Hall
on Saturday morning 7th May at 10am.
Items on the agenda should include: 1. Review of the
Spring Fayre. 2. The Arrangements for the Fete on
11th June. 3. Welcome Package. 4. Wynnstay Gates –
Update. 5. Talk by the ‘Play Development’ Team.

at Ruabon Library during May: Colour and Black & White prints by club members will be on show –
all types of photography by members both advanced and novice.

Story and Rhyme time sessions are held every Tuesday during term
time from 2-2.30pm. The sessions are suitable for children up to the age of 3.
The popular Computer Taster Sessions at Ruabon library will continue to take place on a Friday afternoon, but booking is essential.

Ruabon Churches’ News
St Mary’s Parish Church, is a member of the Open
Church Network, and is now open to visitors every
Saturday until the end of September from 1pm to 5pm.
This church is a Grade One historical building dating back
to medieval times. For Children: Toddler Praise for pre-school
children on Tuesday mornings in
the church hall from 10.30am to
12 noon **
Messy Church and Holiday Club

Youth Group is on Sunday
evenings 5pm-6.30pm. **
All Age Worship: The 1st Sunday
in the month is a Family
Communion Service at 9.30am.
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month there is the JIGSAW service: informal
worship for all ages. **
Other activities : The Choir practices on Tuesday evenings in the Church Hall at
7.15pm and sings at the 9.30am service every Sunday.

The next joint coffee morning at St Mary’s Church will be on
Saturday 7th May 10-12noon. Please try and support this as
we are raising money towards replacing the boiler and other
work in our church.
The next fish and chip lunch and bingo at St John’s Church is
on Tuesday May 10th at 12noon. All welcome, please book
your lunch with Beulah (810868).
The Archdeacon’s Visitation is on Wednesday 11th May, at All
Saints Gresford at 7pm. Wardens need to attend, and PCC
members are welcome.
Help Needed:
Please sign up to help when St Mary’s Church is open to all on
a Saturday afternoon between Easter and September. Thank
you.
Please sign up for donations to the hampers for St Mary’s
raffle, and please take some raffle tickets to sell. Thank you.
The Food Bank is in need of toilet rolls, toothpaste,
toothbrushes and toiletries. If you can provide any of these
items please place them in the basket in St Mary’s Church.

Have a go at building your own shelter from natural materials that can be found in any british
woodland. We look at many modern shelter versions from fly camps and loue shelters to
natural shelters suitable for individuals or even whole groups. Try your hand at building a

equipment available now to help filter and purify your water supply. We will demonstrate a
range of systems and discuss the pros and cons of each type. You can have a go at making
your own water filtration system.

Concert with European Organist Claudia Hirschfeld 11-05-2016 01:00 PM BST LLAY ORGAN SOCIETY presents one of Europe's best loved Organ stars, Claudia
Hirschfeld in Concert for what promises to be one the highlights of the Society's current

and the only venue in Wales she will appear at during her flying visit. This will be one show
