$1.2B Pledge to End Polio At the Rotary International Convention, global leaders and key donors affirmed their commitment to ending polio. With polio on the brink of eradication, nations from around the world and key

donors pledged more than $1 billion on Monday to energize the global fight to end the paralyzing disease.

Rotary International President John F. Germ announced that Rotary would increase its commitment and raise $50 million per year over

the next three years. Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, told the crowd of nearly 24,000 that, starting 1 July, his foundation will extend its 2-to-1 match to cover up to $50 million in

donations to Rotary for each of the next three years. The match and donations to Rotary would add up to $150 million per year over the

next three years, which will add up to $450 million to the fight.

Make your Rotary 2016-2017 contribution of $100+ to

PolioPlus before June 28.

TRF Contributions This year - 2017 - marks the 100th Anniversary of our Foundation,

and we need your help to finish celebrating this milestone in a big way. We are asking every Rotarian in the district to help us

achieve 100% participation in the 100th year – meaning, we are asking every Rotarian in District 5870 to contribute something (preferably $25 but anything will be appreciated) to the Rotary

Foundation’s Annual Fund between now and June 30th. We’ve never reached 100% giving. The best we’ve ever done is 87.5%.

This is definitely the year to make that magic happen! But as of today, we’re only at 76.3%. If you haven’t contributed to the Annual Fund yet this year, we urgently need your help to reach

this goal. Important deadlines for your year-end Rotary Foundation contributions:

Checks: • Must be postmarked on or before Friday, 30 June 2017.

• Must be received at The Foundation no later than Thursday,

6 July 2017. • Contributions postmarked after 30 June 2017 or received

after 6 July 2017, will be considered July 2017 gifts. If you or others in your club are planning on contributing early in

the 2017-18 year, please do not send in checks until Saturday, 1 July 2017.

Credit Card Payments: • Via Rotary.org – must be authorized by midnight on Friday,

30 June 2017. • Via fax (847-328-5260), phone (866-976-8279), or mail to

World Headquarters – must be received prior to close of business on Friday, 30 June 2017.

• Credit card contributions by mail are less secure and slower than contributing online.

• For security purposes, please do not send credit card

contributions via email.

Wire Transfers, Securities and Special Gifts:

• Wire Transfers must be initiated prior to Friday, 30 June 2017 and received by Wednesday, 5 July 2017.

• Securities must be received prior to Friday, 30 June 2017.
