PRAYERS TO SAINT VINCENT FERRER“Whatever you do, think not of yourself, but of God.”

O glorious Apostle and wonder-worker, Saint Vincent Ferrer, new Angel of the Apocalypse and our loving patron, receive our humble prayer, and send down upon us a plentiful shower of divine favors. By the fire of love in thy heart, obtain for us from the Father of mercies the pardon and remission of all our sins, steadfastness in faith, and perseverance in good works, that so we may live as good and fervent Christians and become worthy of thy powerful patronage. Extend thy protection to our bodies also, and deliver us from sickness. Keep our fields from hurtful tempests and storms of hail, and banish all misfortune from us. Blessed by thy favors both in body and soul, we shall ever be thy devoted clients, and one day we shall come to heaven to join with thee in praising God through all eternity. Amen.

A Method of Praying the Holy Rosary

by St. Louis de Montfort

This prayer is a way of commemorating the life, death and glory of Jesus and Mary in the Most Holy Rosary. It is a way to curb our imagination and to lessen distractions. In order to do this, we must add a word or two to each Hail Mary, and this helps remind us which mystery we are commemorating. This word (or words) should be recited after the word “Jesus”, and thus we pray “And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb...”

The Fifty Four Day Rosary NovenaThe 54 Day Rosary Novena dates back over a hundred years to an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Naples, Italy. A young girl, Fortuna Agrelli, daughter of a commander, lay close to death. She had been suffering terribly for thirteen months. Renowned physicians had abandoned hope, but the suffering youth and her desperate family, placing all confidence in their heavenly Mother, began a novena of Rosaries on 16 February 1884. They persevered for two weeks and their prayers seemingly passed unanswered. But the cry of undaunted faith, finally piercing the clouds, forced the gates of Heaven.On the third day of March, the Queen of the most Holy Rosary appeared to the afflicted child in marvelous beauty, sitting on a high throne decorated with flowers. The Infant Jesus was on her lap. Mother and Child, clad in gold embroidered garments, were accompanied by Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine of Siena.Holding a Rosary in her hand, Our Lady looked with tender compassion upon the poor sufferer, who cried from the depths of her tired heart, "Queen of the Holy Rosary, be gracious to me; restore me to health! I have already prayed to thee in a novena, O Mary, but have not yet experienced thy aid. I am so anxious to be cured!""Child," responded the Blessed Virgin, "thou hast invoked me by various titles and hast always obtained favors from me. Now, since thou hast called me by that title so pleasing to me, 'Queen of the Holy Rosary,' I can no longer refuse the favor thou dost petition; for this name is most precious and dear to me. Make three novenas, and thou shalt obtain all."Pope Leo XIII was deeply moved by the report of this miracle by Our Lady, wrought through the power of her Holy Rosary. He indulgenced the novena, and in many of his encyclicals, urged upon all the faithful a strong devotion and love for the Holy Rosary. Again the Queen of the Holy Rosary appeared to Fortuna and said, "Whoever desires to obtain favors from me should make three novenas of the prayers of the Rosary in petition, and three novenas in thanksgiving." Thus began the devotion now known as the 54 Day Novena which consists of five decades of the Rosary each day for twenty seven consecutive days in petition, followed immediately by five decades each day for twenty seven consecutive days in thanksgiving, whether you have obtained the favor or not.

On the first day, meditate on the Joyful Mysteries, on the second, the Sorrowful, and

on the third, the Glorious. Continue alternating the Mysteries throughout the 27 days of

petition and 27 days of thanksgiving.
