Dear families,
It was great to see our dads, grandads, uncles and mums enjoying a fun afternoon of activities to celebrate Fathers’
Day. We have some fabulous photos which you would have seen on Seesaw or the copy that came home with
your child.
We held a wonderful Kindy & Pre-Primary Sports Carnival on Friday. The children had lots of fun participating in
a range of activities cheered on by their parents and families. Many thanks to Mrs Buchanan and Mrs Pozzebon
for organizing the carnival and to all staff for managing the games on the day. Thank you to everyone for coming
along.
Last Friday, we enjoyed coming to school in pyjamas for a donation to the Lucy Saw Centre. We raised $479 to
support the fabulous work they do. Thanks to Miss Green for organising the day and purchasing lots of much
needed cleaning materials which she delivered this morning!
Keep sending in your spare silver coins for ‘Silver September’ – class tallies are looking awesome, thank you!
Many thanks to all families who supported the P&C and enjoyed a wonderful movie night of “Despicable Me”.
Special thanks to Tegan and the P&C for organising the movie and refreshments.
RU OK Day
This Thursday , 14th September, is RU OK Day. R U OK? Day is a national day of action dedicated to reminding
everyone that we’ve all got what it takes to ask, “are you ok?” and support those struggling with life. Take time
out of your busy day to check in with someone and ask them, “RU OK?” Come and join us for a coffee or tea in
the quadrangle between 8:15am till 9am. https://www.ruok.org.au/every-day-resources
Faction Athletics Carnival
Our annual Year 1 to 6 Faction Carnival is on this Friday. We hope you can come along and share in the fun and
cheer on your children and their faction. It all gets underway at 8:45am with the Faction March to the bays! It
should be a great spectacle as each faction has chosen their own special song to march to. The P&C are running a
sausage sizzle for lunch. Students can join their families for lunch on the oval at 11:20am until 11:50am
(depending on how the timing of events is running).
Rocky Beach Facebook Page
We now have our very own official Facebook Page: Rockingham Beach Primary School. We will be posting all
the fantastic learning and events happening in our school. There will also be important reminders or notices post-
ed. Please visit and ‘like’ our page. You are welcome to comment on our posts, however, please read our page
guidelines first. You can also follow us on Twitter @RockyBeachPS
Do you have a favourite teacher or support staff member?
Now is your chance to shine a spotlight on our incredible teachers and school staff members and tell the world
what makes them shine. As part of the WA Education Awards, The People’s Pick is an opportunity for parents,
students and our community to get involved and recognise the dedicated and talented staff in our school. Simply
pick who you want to recognise; create a video, photo or testimonial showing what makes them incredible; and
upload your message at www.education.wa.edu.au/awards or on www.facebook.com/PublicEducationWA. Then
share the message on your Facebook page and tell your family and friends to vote for it. If a message for one of
our staff receives the highest number of votes, our school will win a $1000 Modern Teaching Aids voucher. Share
your message before 5.00pm on Friday 13 October 2017 and stay tuned. The People’s Pick will be announced on
Friday 27 October on World Teachers’ Day and all staff recognised will be acknowledged at
www.education.wa.edu.au/awards.

Science Week
In Week 10, we have planned a ‘Rocky Beach Science Fair’ to celebrate National Sci-
ence Week. Each year level will put together a display showing what they have learned
over this term. You are welcome to take a look at what our students have been doing
from 12:05pm on Thursday in the Undercover Area.
P&C Sports Dress-Up Day
On the last Friday of term, the P&C are holding a Sports Dress-Up Day fundraiser. All
students are encouraged to wear their favourite sports uniform for a gold coin donation.
All funds raised go towards additional sport and music resources.
Many thanks to all our magnificent, hardworking staff for their commitment and effort
in providing such wonderful learning opportunities for our students and make this
school a fun place to be every day.
As this is the final newsletter for Term 3, I would like to wish all our families a wonder-
ful two weeks holiday. Have a relaxing break and we look forward to seeing our stu-
dents back on Monday 9th October – there is NO school development day on the first
day of Term 4.

TRAVELLING SAFELY TO SCHOOL.
City of Rockingham Road Wise members will be re-visiting Rockingham Beach PS
on Thursday, 19th October as part of the Safe Travel to School project. RW members

Using designated footpaths,
Using Guarded Crossings,
Wearing helmets when cycling or scootering,

Checking the road before crossing,
Using the safety door (back left passenger door) when alighting from a car.

Book Review by Cecilia Wear
Written by Trace Moroney Helping people, listening to your friends, feeling good about yourself. Feeling KIND is all of these things, and more. I wish I had discovered the series of ‘When I’m Feeling’ when my kids were younger. These would have been great to dis-cuss and talk about while my children were experiencing var-ious emotions, possibly for the first time. Saying that, my 6 year old and I really got something out of this book. Not only did it go into being kind to others, it also spoke about being kind to yourself, being proud of what you are good at in-stead of worrying about the things you can’t do. Something I want my young perfectionist to hear regularly. It also spoke about how healthy eating, exercising and sleeping are ways to be kind to yourself.
This series is a great way to start discussions with your kids about their emotions. When I’m Feeling Kind is available in the school library and can be borrowed on your child’s library card.
Wow we managed to raise $479 with the pyjama day we held on Friday the 8th
of September. This money went towards purchasing cleaning product and non
perishable foods for the Lucy Saw Woman's refuge. Thank you for all your
support and donations the charity were overwhelmed with the generosity of
our school community.

BRING HOME A BIG BROTHER OR SISTER AND BRING FRENCH, ITALIAN OR SPANISH CUL-
TURE TO LIFE!
Why not volunteer to host an international student from France, Italy or Spain next year? We have a small
group of delightful students coming to Australia for 11 weeks to immerse in local Australian culture, experi-
ence our High schools, sports, environment and lifestyle. All these international students are around 15 or
16 years old, speak excellent English, have their own spending money, cover all school expenses, and we
arrange all aspects of their program. They are looking forward to joining an Australian family for a short
term cultural immersion stay. It’s fun and interesting to help these young people achieve their Australian
dream. If you would like to know more, please email your interest to ICM on [email protected] or
call Georgie or Anja on 1800 500 501, or visit our website www.icm-education.com.
