CHOOSING AND FOCUSING A NURSING TOPIC

Leading Health Indicators (LHI)Healthy People 2020 provides a comprehensive set of

10-year, national goals and objectives for improving the health of all Americans.

The LHI’s are very broad, and eventhe more focused topics provided on the website are too broad for a 5- to 7-page paper.

Affiliation – Authors are affiliated with a university or research center and Affiliations are clearly indicated on the article.

Peer-review process – Article is reviewed by 2 or more researchers who are experts in the same field of study. Article is published only if reviewers approve.

Audience - Articles are written by researchers for other researchers or serious students of the subject.

Data - Authors are reporting the results of research that they have done. Data often included in the form of tables, charts, diagrams.

Documentation - Authors acknowledge their sources by using in-text references & bibliography .
