BOOST YOUR ENGLISH IN A DAY
FOR TEACHER / LECTURER, TRAINER / COACH
WHEN I WAS A YOUNG GIRL, I fell in love with the world of learning and teaching. To me, the classroom was a magical place. My teachers provided a nurturing environment in which I always felt at home. I went on to study English Language and Literature, a lifelong love of mine. The degree came with a wonderful bonus: a teacher’s certificate.
IN MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE, I am a lecturer at the International Business Management School, Hogeschool Utrecht. I combine this job with a career as a professional trainer/coach at Schouten & Nelissen. One job informs the other and inspiration flows both ways. One day, one of my colleagues had a bright idea: she asked me if I would consider putting together a training program for her to get better at presenting her work in English. When I thought about this, it occurred to me that I knew people in both my lines of work who might benefit from this type of training.
NOW, every year I take out a number of days from my regular schedule and get together a small group of eager professionals. We meet for one full day in an inspiring classroom environment. Everyone shares materials and methods from their profession, everyone participates very actively. The teachers get coached, the coaches get taught. My role is to give feedback and guide the participants. Doors open, horizons expand. IT’S MAGIC.
