Introduction

About RingCentral for Canvas

RingCentral for Canvas provides seamless integration between Canvas and RingCentral Meetings to schedule/host/join a meeting easily.

Known Limitation The RingCentral Meeting Client App needs to installed in advance in the Windows OS.

Step 1: Login to Canvas as Administrator

Log in Canvas as the Administrator and go to the Admin tab. (Figure 1)

Then select All Accounts under the Admin tab. (Figure 1-1)

Step 2: Select the Account You Manage

Select the account you want to bind with RingCentral Meetings. (Figure 2)

[Note for Admins] My Organization is the name of your organization in your Canvas account.

Step 3: Set Up the Global Setting Across Courses

Go to the Admin tab and select Settings.

Select Paste XML to let Canvas link to RingCentral service. (XML contents is at the end of this guide) (Figure 7)

Step 9: Copy RingCentral_Canvas_config File Content to Add App

Open the RingCentral_Canvas_config file and add a name for tab that will display in Canvas to schedule the meeting. (Figure 8)

Adding RingCentral to Courses

Step 1: Login to Canvas as Administrator

Log in Canvas as Administrator account and go to Courses tab. (Figure 9)

Step 2: Select a Course to Add RingCentral

From the courses list, select the courses where you would like to add RingCentral’s services. We use “Applied Design - I” as an example.

Step 5: Drag RingCentral To Include In Course Navigation

Once RingCentral App is successfully installed, it will appear at the bottom of this screen. Drag RingCentral from the bottom menu and place it towards the top menu to include it in the course navigation. (Figure 13)

Once placed in the main course navigation menu, the screen will appear as in Figure 14. Then scroll down and click Save.

Step 6: Sign In To RingCentral

Once RingCentral is successfully saved, you can select “RingCentral” from the course navigation menu. Then, enter your RingCentral

credentials to start using RingCentral’s services.

Once signed in, the screen looks similar to Figure 16.

Scheduling a Meeting

Step 1: Click Schedule meeting

After login, you can schedule a meeting by clicking top-right corner “+Schedule meeting.” As shows in Figure 17.

Step 2: Configure meeting setting

Then a pop-up will show up to let you fill with details meeting info, as shows in Figure 18.

Step 3: Recurring meeting

If you want to set up a recurring meeting, you need to check “Recurrence”, as shown in Figure 19. There are two more settings needed. The first one is the repeat frequency. There are three types of recurring supported here including, Day(s),

Week(s), Month(s) and two types of ending recurring criteria supported including “end by count” and “end by date.” Your selection will be summarized into one sentence and shows next to Recurrence checkbox.

Step 3-1: Daily recurring meeting If you want to set up a daily recurring meeting, select “Day(s)” and also remember to choose ending criteria as shown in Figure 20.

Step 3-2: Weekly recurring meeting If you want to set up a weekly recurring meeting, select “Week(s)” and also remember to choose ending criteria as shown in Figure 21. In weekly setting, weekday supports either single selection or multiple selections.

Step 3-3: Monthly recurring meeting If you want to set up a monthly recurring meeting, select “Month(s)” and also remember to choose ending criteria as shown in Figure 22. In monthly setting, there is an extra selection for the ordinal number of weeks. The difference from weekly is

that the weekday option only single selection can be selected.

Joining a Meeting You are always can join a meeting by clicking the button at the Action column of Upcoming meetings page as shows in Figure 23. If the button shows “Join” means you can join other host’s meeting. If button shows “Start” means this meeting is

hosted by you.

Deleting a Meeting

If you need to delete a meeting, you can move your cursor at right side of “Start” button, a trash can icon will appear as shows in Figure 24. You can only delete the meeting host by you. If you want to delete a recurring meeting when click trash can icon, a menu will show to let you choose to delete either this meeting or all meetings in the series as shows in Figure 25.
