Reynolds Number and Friction Factor Calculations
The application is best viewed using a resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
Please set your resolution to this if it is not set so.
Reynolds number and Friction factor calculations are two vital requirements for Pressure
Drop calculations. To calculate the same easily, we have provided this application.
The application will open with the following screen:
For Reynolds Number calculation, inputs are mass flow rate, density, pipe inner diameter
and viscosity. Users have a choice to give the inputs according to their choice of units.
After these inputs, click the “Calculate Reynolds Number” button. It will calculate and
show the result as follows:
For Friction Factor calculation inputs are pipe inner diameter, pipe roughness, Reynolds
Number (default value will be the calculated value from Reynolds Number calculation)
and an initial guess of Darcy Friction Factor (default value has been calculated and
provided using Blazius Equation). On clicking the “Calculate Friction Factor” button, it
will calculate Darcy’s, Fanning’s and Churchill’s Friction Factors. The results will be
displayed as follows:
