Your organisation has more data than ever before! What do you keep
and what do you throw away and how do you do this? What can be
derived to give your company an advantage? How do you do this
effectively and within your budget?
An agile data warehouse and effective big data analysis are essential
components in facilitating business trends and growth. These tools
play an important role when building the foundations for the perfect
competitive advantage.
The digital revolution has not made the task of measuring analysing
business data any easier either. The rise in web, social media and
other digital technologies has affected the volume of information we
interact with on a daily basis. Practitioners face the ongoing challenge of
demonstrating ROI by extracting valuable data from a sea of data noise
that continues to grow.
You will explore the following challenges:
Demonstrating the tangible benets and ROI of data warehousingEffectively managing Big Data
Overcoming the barriers of to move to agile data ware houseMaturing organisations data quality capabilityBringing IT costs into control by effectively using CloudNew technologies and trends in business analytics
About the workshop:Big data is a big thing for industries and government organisations. A particular challenge facing almost all organisations is to effectively analyse anomalies and exceptions in big data.
This includes dealing with extremely imbalanced data, actively managing the risk of customers, services, businesses, processes, and policies. This workshop will address problems, cutting-edge
technologies and effective solutions for tackling such critical challenges.
What will delegates learn?
Basic concepts and major challenges brought by big data in major organisations; an overview of state-of-the-art technologies for anomaly/outlier detection; cutting-edge techniques
for complex behaviour analysis, scenario analysis and impact analysis for active risk management; real-life examples of identifying and quantifying risks in big data within complex environments;
cost-benet analysis for optimizing the risk management capabilities in big data.
Wrp A: Ama Deec ad R Aa f Bg Daa w Cmpex ErmeRegistration and refreshments: 9.00 amWorkshop time: 9.30am - 12.30pm
Facilitated by: Longbing Cao, Professor, Faculty of Engineering and IT Director, Advanced Analytics Institute, University of Technology Sydney
About the workshop leader:
Longbing Cao is a professor of information technology and the Founding Director of Advanced Analytics Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He has PhDs in
Intelligent Sciences and Computing Science and is also the Research Leader of the Data Mining Program at the Australian Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre. He is
a Senior Member of IEEE, SMC Society and Computer Society.
About the workshop:Many cloud computing contracts are very restrictive and users of cloud computing may not be aware of the risks of using cloud vendors without carefully reviewing the contract. Making
sure you can always access your data, making sure you actually own your data, where the data is stored, which law applies to your data are all important issues to be covered off, not to
mention data privacy. These issues and more will be discussed during the workshop.
What delegates will learn:
Delegates will learn what to look for in cloud vendor contracts so that their data is protected before engaging a cloud vendor to handle their data. While cloud computing brings many
benets to organisations including reduced costs of storage and handling of data, the risks need to be considered and addressed so that they do not outweigh these benets.
About the workshop leader:
Allison Staneld is the founder of e.law International, a niche legal technology company that specialises in digital evidence. Allison is a lawyer who specialises in emerging
technologies, and has years of experience managing complex litigation involving digital evidence.
