Summary StatementI have 10 plus years’ experience in educational management and 7 years working in research and development with mission critical computer systems. I held my educational program to 5% attrition while placing 83% of my students in their field of study. As a prototype engineer, I environmental tested designs and laid out PCB. I can multitask, meet deadlines and manage personnel.
Professional Experience
ITT Technical Institute
A post-secondary institution that focused on training students and providing the knowledge and necessary skills to be successful in industry
Nov 2005 to Sept 2016 School Chair – Electronics
Responsible for developing curriculum that maintained the changing needs of industry. School Chair is responsible for the hiring of instructors, the census of their program, teaching required courses, working with the community, and schedule students in necessary courses.
Through hiring industry professionals, I created an electronics program that had one of the highest placement rates in California with one of the lowest attrition rates in the nation
Managed between 170 to 300 students per quarter through the ten years making it one of the largest dedicated electronics programs within ITT. This resulted in many other chairs to call upon me for advice and assistance when curriculum issues arose
Managed on occasion the Academic Affairs department as acting Dean when necessary proving I could handle the tasks of my position as well as that of Dean simultaneously
Taught two to four courses a quarter on top of my chair responsibilities
Oct 1992 to Aug 1995; Apr 2003 to Nov 2005 Instructor
Responsible for teaching six courses a quarter in subjects relating to Electronics. These subjects include fundamental courses in DC/AC as well as transistors, integrated circuits, digital, radio, RF communications, circuit analysis and design, power electronics as well as capstone courses.
Managed class sizes up to 52 students with 95% retention in early quarter courses which resulted in better retention for the students throughout the rest of the program
Prepared to teach six different courses morning and evening every quarter using a variety of teaching methods to appeal to different learning styles which improved student understanding of the material
Responsible for grading papers with relevant feedback in a timely manner as well as accurate attendance
Kontron (formerly ICS-ADVENT)
Responsible for designing mission critical custom computer systems for both active and passive PCB layout as well as rack mount. Kontron engineers computers with 99% reliability while being made in the USA
Mar 1995 to Oct 2001 Engineering Technician/Engineer
Assisted engineering with prototype development of mission critical computer systems which resulted in detecting early design flaws which saved time and money
Read, follow, and modify schematics to repair or restore prototypes to working order Wrote up reports and lab findings on the success and failure of prototype designs which assisted
engineers to catch the errors and prevent the same errors from occurring Able to work alone to solve problems down to board level repairs Maintained technical journals of repairs and solutions which increased board repair turn-around on
customer product As department manager I trained technicians in repair and customer service department, which
increased the productivity of the department. As an engineer, I assisted with PCB layout using CADENCE. My efforts would have my name
attached to three patents along with the designers.
