As authorized by Virginia Code § 2.2-3704 (F) and School Board Policy, the School Division may assess charges for the cost incurred for staff to search for, access, gather and supply records that are responsive to your request. The cost to complete request #1 is based on the quote obtained from an outside engineering firm that will be used to process your request. The cost to complete request #2 is based on the hourly rate of the employee that will be responsive for the records detailed in your request. Request #1 The specific Ashrae code, measured in CFM, for each York (Virginia Beach City Public) School with an HVAC unit older than 20 years: Alanton ES, Bayside MS, Bayside 6 th grade campus, Corporate Landing ES, Cox Hs, Holland ES, Indian Lakes ES, Kemps Landing/Old Donation, Kempsville ES, Kempsville HS, King’s Grant ES, Larkspur MS, Luxford ES, Lynnhaven MS, Ocean Lakes HS, Parkway ES, Princess Anne ES, Princess Anne HS, Providence ES, Salem HS, Salem MS, Tallwood HS, Thoroughgood ES, Williams ES. Response to Request #1 After reviewing your request for the specific Ashrae code, measured in CFM for each VBCPS with an HVAC unit older than 20 years for the schools listed above, it has been determined that no such report currently exists with the information as requested. In order to provide this information, a new report would need to be compiled and produced by an outside engineering firm. The fee quoted to perform the building assessments, and total charge to you, is $7,860.00. Please note that this assessment does not include any field verification of installed equipment or state of operation of any of the equipment included in the assessment. It also will not include an actual measurement of outside air being introduced by each mechanical unit. If you are requesting that the engineers visit each building and physically inspect each mechanical unit, then the charge incurred by you will be $14,500.00. Response to Request #1

Response to Request #2

As authorized by Virginia Code § 2.2-3704 (F) and School Board Policy, the School Division may assess

charges for the cost incurred for staff to search for and compile information that is responsive to your

request. The total charge for the information listed in Request #2 would be for the following:

The amount of time staff will need to extract specific data to process request

The actual amount of time needed to run and compile the report

The amount of time needed to verify the accuracy of the data

The cost is based on the hourly rate for the employee that will process your request. The estimated time

for this employee to conduct the requisite work is as follows:

Night Crew Supervisor – 2 hours

The charge for the estimated time to process your FOIA request #2 is $65.84.

The total charges to process both requests is $7,925.84. If you would like the additional information

described in the Response to Request #1 section, then the total charge will be $14,565.84. If you agree to

these conditions, please submit your payment in the form of a cashier’s check or money order made

payable to Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Please send your payment to my attention at the
