Design / Costumer Brief I have been asked by my customer to create the interior and exterior design of his country house close to the sea. My customer`s priority was to create a house friendly to the environment, make it a part of it. The criteria that I took under consideration were my customer’s needs. He wants a house for him, his wife and his little daughter which ease their lives and make them feel relax and cozy. To all our meetings he was telling me that this house wants to be their" little paradise". The father enjoys cooking and barbecuing a lot and he always wanted to have a big place to do that. The mother loves reading in the nature listening to music and daydreaming in a tranquil place in the nature. The little girl loves playing, milling around bare foot and she always wanted to have a dog. All the family likes to have an open house to friends and relatives and to make them feel comfortable in it. Since it is a country house and here in Greece due to the weather condition it is allowed to spend the most of the time outside, my real challenge and interest was the external environment of the house. The house is close to the sea but not by the sea. The colors that dominate the areas are the earth- colors. The green of the trees, the brown of the wood and the different chamois of the soil combine with the lighting of the blue country sky. Therefore, I chose to play with these colors and bring this mood and feeling in the house itself. My challenge though was to combine the outside with the inside since there is a big window that connects the internal with the external space. Actually, I would like the external space to be an exterior to the internal one.

To fulfill my customer desire the predominant color of my construction is the color of earth. While I use many different sides of brown, orange, Beige. The dominant material is the wood to fit in the environment in balance with stone and metal. I created a wooden deck outside the house in front of the main window in order to give the perception of the continuity extension of the internal house. The short wooden coffee table in the center with the pillows around reinforces the cozy atmosphere and makes the habitant feel close to the nature. The dining table was made of a stone surface and a wooden base accompanied with a bench and a few light rattan chairs. All the decorated items like stone pots with local plants, lantern made of wood and metal and floor lamps create an ethnic and atmospheric environment. Last but not least the addition of some specific item like the hammock swing and the stone barbecue are to serve the specific requests of my customers.
