The home page utilizes Tile functionality as a starting point for navigation. This will be the biggest visual difference when you log in after the go-live date. The new functionality will also be fluid, meaning the page will responsively change its layout to fit a tablet, phone etc. This screen is just an example of what the homepage will look like. The final product may look slightly different. Keep in mind that these tiles will be the quickest way to navigate, surpassing the current menu navigation (that will still be available should you choose to continue using it)

The workcenter is a centralized workspace used to access key PeopleSoft pages, internal UD sites (UDataGlance, webforms etc.), and external (non-UD) sites. The goal of the workcenter is to reduce the number of clicks and need to navigate using the traditional menu or favorites. PeopleSoft links open within the WorkCenter, while external links open in new windows, allowing you to better manage your work. Lastly, links are grouped by category and can be further personalized by each user

A new, custom ‘express page’ allows you to enter only the required fields, and save, in order to generate a proposal ID. You can access the page through the WorkCenter or via the standard navigation path. The express page contains the required fields needed to save a proposal and generate a proposal ID. After saving, the page will launch the activity guide – which the user can use to continue development of the proposal. For those that choose not to use the Express Page/Activity guide, proposals can still be entered in the standard way, on the Maintain Proposal page. When 9.2 goes lives, the ability to enter proposals in the previous ways still exists – this is not going away! We are just offering more tools and options to streamline the process.

The activity guide will guide you through the proposal entry process – taking you to the pages necessary for a complete proposal entry. As soon as the activity guide opens, you will see the pages you are familiar with – but instead of clicking the tabs or links, you can click the Next button at the top of the page. This will bring you to the next step in the proposal entry process.

You can expect to receive next communication in late March / early April with updates of where we’re at with the project. We will also have job aids and in-person training closer to the go-live date to help everyone with the new functionality. User acceptance testing will start in early April, and the Research Office will reach out to a select group of campus users to help participate in testing efforts around some of the new functionality

o Will there be a current & pending report?o Some data clean-up is needed, but it is on the list of deferred items

o Will I still have the ability to edit, once it is marked complete in the activity guide?o Yes, activity guides provide guidance, but each step is still editable after marking complete

o What is the Review Proposal Budget link?o This is the ability to view all budget periods/projects in 1 page for a given proposal

o How will multi-disciplinary proposal work?o This will be a future change – the ability to see proposal data for all projects on a given

proposal, even if it’s outside your home department. Research Office will be testing & communicating how to do this

o Will there be access to PI salary?o This is a wish list item and will hopefully be available in the future

o What does the ‘submit’ button in the activity guide do?o The submit button marks the activity guide as complete

o Will the LAM update automatically?o No, HR payroll is out of scope for this upgrade
