REPORT OF PAST MEETING 33rd Annual Meeting of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons T HE 33rd ANNUAL MEETING of the Pacific Asso- ciation of Pediatric Surgeons was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 15-19, 2000. The luxurious Bella- gio Resort was the venue for this successful meeting. Dr Marvin W. Harrison, President of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons, welcomed the participants from 12 countries to the meeting and presided over the annual banquet that culminated in the traditional Songfest led by Past-President Chad Baxter. The Program Committee, chaired by Margo Hendrickson, with James B. Atkinson, Ralph C. Cohen, Stephen G. Jolley, Philip A. King, Jer-Nan Lin, Koonosuke Nakada, and Chikara Tsugawa, selected 99 abstracts from 143 submitted, with 63 as oral presentations and 36 poster presentations. The Publications Committee, chaired by Richard E. Black, with members including Htut Saing, Gerald M. Haase, Sachiyo Suita, Akira Okada, Spencer W. Beasley, Yoshiaki Tsuchida, John M. Hutson, Kevin C. Pringle, Marvin W. Harrison, Rebecka L. Meyers, and Margo Hendrickson, selected 35 manuscripts for publication from 62 submitted for consideration. The excellent sci- entific program was interspersed with fun and an exciting social program including golf and tennis tournaments, a Behind-the-Curtain Tour, a trip to Hoover Dam, and a Red Rock Tour. Dr Stephen Jolley did an outstanding job of chairing the local organizing committee, along with his dedicated office staff. The Stephen L. Gans Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr Charles F. Wilkinson, Distinguished University Professor & Moses Lasky Professor of Law at the Uni- versity of Colorado. Dr Wilkinson spoke on “Reclaiming Native Homelands: The Indian Sovereignty Movement in Modern America.” The M. James Warden Traveling Fellowship Lecture was delivered by Dr Luis De la Torre from Mexico. Dr Philip A. King will assume chairman- ship of the Guest Assistance Program with the passing of Dr Warden this past year. Dr Takeshi Miyano will serve as President next year and will host the 34th Annual Meeting in Kyoto, Japan. Dr James B. Atkinson is the President-Elect, and Stephen G. Jolley will continue to serve as Secretary. We believe that the contents of this issue accurately reflect the proceedings of the 33rd Annual Meeting, and we look forward to gathering in Kyoto, Japan, in 2001. Our organization is indebted to Dr Jay M. Grosfeld and the Journal of Pediatric Surgery for the opportunity to have our proceedings published. Richard E. T HE 33rd ANNUAL MEETING of the Pacific Asso-ciation of Pediatric Surgeons was held in Las
