1.1Thesis Statement

What is generosity?Generosity is the habit of giving freely withoutexpecting anything in

return.It can involve offering time,assets or talents to aid someone in need.Often equated withcharity as a vitue,generosity is widely accepted in society as a desirable trait.In times of natural

disasters,relief efforts ae frequently provided,voluntarily,by individuals or groups acting

unilaterally in making gifts of time,resources,goods,and money.Generosity is a guiding principle

for many registered charities,foundations and non-profit organizations.

Nowdays,teenagers dont know or also can say that they are forget to be generous.They

ignore to be generous in some times because they are busy with their own life.It is sad to say that

teens did not have awareness how important to be generous.In this research we want toinvestigate the generosity among teens of Negeri Sembilan Matriculation college.We want to

examine are they really generous and if yes in what kind of situation they being generous and

what their acts to be generous.In addition are they ignore and dont like to be generous?

The generous acts that shown by teenagers in college are in terms of money,sharing

knowledge,sharing their personal belongings,be a good motivater to their friends, and trying to

help others.As a common example,we can said teens attitude on helping lecturers who carry a lot

of thing and also help their friends who have financial problem.Furthermore,take care of their

room mates who having health problems,respect and obey lecturers instructions to be a

successful person in life and also be discipline.Maybe they dont realize that this simple acts also

make them to be generous.

So,we are conducting this research to identify the relationship between teenagers and

generosity,for instance are they generous,how they define generosity,what are the generous acts

done by nowdays teens and what are the factors that make teens being generous?

1.2 Definition of key terms

TEENAGERS

A teen or teenager is a person between age 13 to 19 years of age.a teen is also called

adolescent who undergo adolescene(Latin adolescene,[to grow]) is a trasitional stage of physical

and mental human development that occurs between childhood and adulthood.

GENEROSITY

Generosity is the kindness shown by a person to society,generous person will be the care

giver,they give more than we expected in terms of help,money,and love.They also having thehabit of giving freely without expect anything in return.It can involving offering time,assets or

talents to aid someone in need.

OUR RESEARCH DEFINITION IS:

The kindness,helping,loving,volunteering and care giving attitude of a person within age of 13 to

19 who undergo trasitional stage of physical and mental human devepment.

In a nutshell,our research objectives are are to investigate the relationship between teens and

generosity,what are the teenagers perspective on generosity,are teenagers generous,how theydefine generosity and what are the factors affecting they being generous.

Are teenagers charitable? (Question 6)

As we ask a question Have you ever give your own money to society or charity without

anyone knowing, 94% of boys and 98% of girlsanswered yes while 6% of boys and 2% of girls

said no.From the graph we can know that teenagers are charitable.

Question 7-Do you think you are selfish most of the time?

Comparing both sexes 54% of male and 70% of female are selfish most of the

time.Furthermore, 46% of boys and 30% of girls are not selfish most of the time.From overall,

62% teenagers are selfish most of the time and only 38% of teenagers are not selfish.From the

graph girls ranging first place in selfish.This is maybe girls are more responsible and boys having

take it easy policy.From overall observation,we can see that most of teens are selfish most of the

time.This is because it is a natural act among nowdays teens which think about ownself first and

then only think about others.

Question 8-(Are you happy for your friends success?)

From the graph 92% boys and 80% of girls answered that they will happy for their friends

success.The range of girls is low when compared with boys maybe because girls like to take

challenge if their friends get greater marks then them.From overall observation,86% of teens

happy for their friends success and only 14% of teens anwered no.So from here we can conclude

teens having generous charactaritics by having positive attitudes towards their friends.

Are teenagers have volunterism to help others(Question 9)

For this question,96% of teenagers answered yes and only 4% answered no.4% of teens said

no maybe because they think that help volunteerly is worthless.From the graph, we can know

that teenagers have desire to volunteerly helping others.

From the graph,97% of teenagers said yes and only 3% of thems answered no for this

question.So we can conclude here that teens are enjoying be caring to their family members and

helping their friends.

Question 11-What teenagers acts toward the person they loved the most?

From the graph,96% of boys and 62% of girls answered yes for this question.If calculate

overall result,79% of teens will forgive their friends easily for their mistakes.This is because

teens having deep care and love towards their friends and they cant live without

them.Furthermore, when compared only 21% of teens cant accept if their friends did any

mistakes.This is because its hurting for teenagers if their loved one betray them and they will not

be able to accept reality.

Question 12-Are teenagers concern how and when to donate?

For this question, all the teenagers answered yes.So here we can conclude that teenagers

know how and when to donate and they are on their money spending as well.

From pie chart,only 4% of teens answered yes and almost 96% of teens answered no.So we

can conclude teenagers really have the heart to give and never except anything in return.

Question 14-What are teens generous acts?

Graph show 62% of teens anwered yes and only 38% of teens answered no.This is because

KMNS teenagers are depend on government allowance and the pocket money that their parents

giving.So in this situation teens expect back money they borrow but we must notice one thing

here teens have the heart to give and help someone eventhough they depend on others for money.

Question 15-Do you think sharing knowledge is beneficial?

As this is a common question that almost all teens say yes if ask.Here from graph almost

95% of teenagers answer yes and only 5% answered no.We can conclude here teenagers having

the attitude to share what they have with others and they like it if others also being intelligent.

Question 16-Do you ever let your friends borrow any of your personal belongings?

Here only 18% of teenagers answered yes and 82% of teens answered no for this.As we

know,no one like to share personal belongings with others.This is a natural act of every teen,and

they must act generous a bit in this kind of situation by letting their friends using it when really

need it.

Here we want to test teenagers commonly,in question 17,we asked as follow If someone

accidentally dropped something on the floor in front of you,would you pick it up for them, all

the teenagers said yes.So that we conclude here that teens are having the desire to help others

even it is a little help.

As we can see here 93% of teens answered yes for question 18.From here we can conclude that

almost all teenagers have the desire to be generous.

From graph 23% of teens answered a bit , 68% a lot and only 9% of teens answered not at

all for question 19.We can conclude here that teens are really act generous towards their beloved

person.

Question 20-How willing is a teen to help their friends?

For question 20, 75% of teenagers answered all the way back to home,no matter how far it

is and 25% of them answered send them to the nearest point of public transport that will take

him/her home.From here we can conclude that teenagers have the greatest willing to help their

friends.

5.1 Conclusion

After conducting relevant researches regarding on our topic Teenagers and generosity, we

have finally come to a rational conclusion.

Our research results tells us that teenagers in this modenised era are generous too.We are

found out this from severe discussion on the way of teens answer our questionarre.According to

our sixth question of questionarre, we set this question to examine whether teenagers are

charitable or not.As a result, 94% of boys and 98% of girls proved that they are charitable.This is

because teenagers are generous and they never expect reputation to being generous.They really

understand the meaning of generous and they act gentle too to being generous.

Secondly,comparing both sexes in question seven, we found out that teenagers are selfish a

bit.This is because from our report result 54% of boys and 70% of girls said that they are selfish

most of the time.This is quite large number.There must have reasons why teenagers being

selfish.For example, maybe their parents teach them to think about ownself first and then only

think about others seek.Then,in this rushing world no one care about others ,so teenagers also

adapted to environment to prevent theirselves from cheated by anyone.

Furthermore,in our question number eight as we asked teenagers that Are you happy foryour friends success?, 92% of boys and 80% of girls said yes.From the result we generally can

conclude most of the teenagers happy for others success.This is because teenagers know that

jealousy and envy is not the act of generous person and they trying to control their natural habits

that jealous on people and think positively to be happy for their friends success.As teenagers

control their bad habits here,it show us that teens know how to be generous and they are for the

right ways of being generous.

In addition,the next findings is based on teenagers volunterism to help others.Almost96% of teenagers having the attitude helping others volunteerly.Eventhough, someone never ask

for help but teens know that they needing help.This is because they having the awareness on

society.For instance, there must at least one teen in every public transport who offer their seat for

an old folks.This might be a strong reason to said that teenagers are still having generous

attitudes eventhough world facing changes everyday.

Other than that, our next graph tell us that almost 97% of teenagers are happy and enjoy

helping their family members and friends.Friends and family members are best related and very

close to a teen.So we can take this graph result as a prove to the statement that teenagers are

really concern and have desire to being generousHas they having the desire to helping others

they will be enjoy doing it and also having more chances here to a teen being generous.

According to question number 11, we can conclude that teenagers are really love

someone they like truly and they cant live without them and can also said that teenagers involve

in relationship deeply without except anything.This is because almost 96% of boys and 62% of

girls are simply forgive their beloved person for their mistakes and failings because they cant

live without them.Here we can see that teens let their ego apart to always be with their beloved

person.Here we can conclude teens are innoscent and they are really not yet matured enougt to

do a right decision.So that it must take some time to them to think of being generous.

Next,to test teens responsibility we are set a question that do you donate your money

for good purpose only?, and all teens answer yes for this question.Here we can see teens

generous act on how they spend their money and they know value is money in this life and also

money is not everything in this world.They also have the awareness that giving when no purpose

is not a generous act.Here teenagers know that only giving money is cannot be a generous

act,what is generosity and they know when to act generous.

According to question number 13, teenagers proved that they know that generosity is not

a act to gain reputation.This is because almost 94% of teenagers said that they are not loan their

money to get praises.Instead of it, teens really have thekind heart to help one in suffer.They

never think about what they will get in return but they just do it as a responsibility that they have

to done in their life.From here we know that teens define generosity as responsibility.

However,teenagers are cannot act generous all the time and in all kind of situation.This is

because they still depend on their parents and have to ask permissions of their parents to act

generous in some kind of situation.This is because when we asked would you except back wht

you given to someone, 62% of teenagers answered yes to this question.Furthermore, only 38% of

teenagers said no.Although, majority of teens said that they would except back what they

borrow,but we have to notice a thing here that teens are act generous too, to wipe someones

tears or suffer for ashort while.So here we must notice that teens having the giving heart.

As a students,teenagers play their role well.This is because when we ask about sharing

knowledge 92% of teenagers said that sharing knowledge is beneficial.Here teenagers know that

sharing knowledge is a great act done by a kind and caring person to guide someone who suffer

to study.They also know that knowledge is priceless gift from god,so that they cant be stingy to

teach it to others.Here teens show their generous act by obey gods instruction.

Eventhough,when ask about sharing personal belongings only 18% of teenagers can do so

and the rest 82% of teens are not willing or they are didnt like to share personal belongings with

others.This is a lack of generous act actually.However, here we have think about teenagers

expectation in some thing.We think that they are not matured enough to do so.This is because if

we are like something we will expect to only we are the one own it and will not give it to

anyone.Teenagers are still growing.So we cant simply blame them in this situation, but it is

better if teenagers are borrow their personal belongings if someone really need it the most.

Then when we asking a common question that would you pick someones thing for them

that they accidentally dropped in the floor, all the teenagers said yes.So here we can know

teenagers are aware to being generous and they really willing to be so.

Then,to test teenagers willingness we asked a question that are they willing to let their

friends who ran out credits in their cell phone using their cell phone, 93% of teenagers answered

yes and only 7% of teenagers said no.From here we know that teenagers are really concern onothers struggle and they also trying to understand others problem.Furthermore,They play their

best role they there to help someone in trouble.So that teenagers have the willingness to help

others who are in trouble.This also can be said as a generous act of teenagers.

As a way to examine how generous a teenager to their loved person,we set a question that

how much thought will they put to buy gifts to their beloved person.As a result,23% of teenagers

said a bit,68% said a lot and onlt 9% teens said not at all.From here we can know that teenagers

are really act generous to their loved person.This is because they are caring and kind hearted.

Finally,we asked a common tricky question in question twenty.75% of teenagers said they

will send their all the way back home,no matter how far it is , and 25% of teens said that they

will send their friend to the nearest point of public transport.From here also majority of teens are

really care about their friends safety and they think about her/his suffer if let them to take public

transport alonely in night.

In a nutshell, from the findings and discussions we found out that teenagers are stillgenerous,they define generosity as a responsibility,and service in their life,teenagers act generous

in many kind of situation and willingness and thought are the factors that make teens being

generous.

5.2 Recommodation

Finally we are having some suggestions here how teenagers can improve themselves to

be more generous and what are the parents role to make their become a generous person infuture.

Firstly,teenagers must have the desire to be generous and must find for it everyday and

everytime.They must every single of their act and make its not hurting others and it is

positive.Next,teenagers must have positive thoughts.This is because there is a proverb what you

think is powerful,what you say is powerful and it will change your life forever.So that,teenagers

thought must be positive and clear first to be a generous person.Then, teenagers should know

that being generous is a rewarding activity.

In addition parents must play a greater role to make their child be generous because

parents are the closest relation to their chid.Firstly,parents must have the thought to raise up their

child as a generous person in future.Then they must practice it to their from their

childhood.Parents must be a ideal for their children.Furthermore,they must teach what is

generous act actually and in what kins of situation one need to act generous.

If teenagers and parents take initiative on being generous it is not impossible to makeour teenagers being a kind-hearted,care giving,honest,lovable,helping and a generous person.
