“Study on importance of planogram for a retail store.”

INTRODUCTION –

• Planograms are a visual representation of a store's products or services considered as a tool of Visual merchandising.

• A planogram is a diagram that shows how and where specific retail products should be placed on retail shelves or displays in order to increase customer purchases. 

• It is a diagram or model that indicates the placement of retail products on shelves in order to maximize sales.

• Planogramming is a skill used in merchandising and retail space planning. A person with this skill is be referred to as a planogrammer. Planograms themselves are also referred to as POGs.

NEED FOR RESEARCH –

• With the help of Planograms; a retailer can actually know where to place the products for the maximum effect.

• Planogram enables the retailers to stock the products at the right place and at the right time to attract the customers and prompt them to buy.

• A retailer can make the best possible use of the available space with the help of planograms.

• Planograms indirectly also contribute in maximizing the sale of the merchandise and thus generate revenues for the store..

OBJECTIVE -

• To study the impact of planogram in the following :- 1) Improved sales 2) Inventory management 3) Influences on the buying behavior of customers.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY -

This is a descriptive research based on both qualitative and quantitative data. The research is done by both primary and secondary data. Secondary data’s are taken from the fashion magazines, websites, books, NIFT resource centre etc and primary data’s are collected from the questionnaire, direct interview etc. This research will help fashion retailers to understand customer in better way in order to retain them.
