REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT #19 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by chairman, Jim Mark. PRESENT: Janice, Chamberlain, Bob Jellen, Frank Krasicki, Jim Mark, Elizabeth McCosh-

Lilie, Tim Nolan, Tony Patticchio, Elizabeth Peczuh, Ron Schurin, Nancy Silander, Dave Tharp, Superintendent Jill Krieger

ABSENY: Casey Cobb OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PUBLIC TO SPEAK: Mansfield resident, Raluca Mocanu, spoke to board members in support of homeschoolers being able to participate in after school activities. REPORTS: Elizabeth McCosh-Lilie reported that negotiations will be beginning shortly with the teachers’ union. Elizabeth Peczuh reported that the policy committee had met on September 13th to discuss homeschooled students participating in after school activities and that there would be an executive session at the end of this meeting to discuss confidential/attorney-client privilege information. The building committee also met to discuss building needs. Janice Chamberlain informed board members that this committee would be meeting again on October 11th. Principal DeLoreto also spoke to board members about activities at the high school. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT: Superintendent Krieger reviewed her report with board members. SPECIAL REPORT: Dan Uriano, Athletic Director, reviewed athletic department activities. Board members had an opportunity to ask questions regarding different aspects of the program. CONSENT AGENDA: MOTION: by Ron Schurin, seconded by Nancy Silander, that the following be approved or received for the record:

That the Regional School District #19 Board of Education approve the September 5, 2017 board meeting minutes. That the Regional School District #19 Board of Education approve overnight trip to Camp Woodstock, October 22-23, 2017, submitted by Shannon Cartier. VOTE: Unanimous in Favor NEW BUSINESS: None: OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PUBLIC TO SPEAK: No Requests MOTION by Elizabeth McCosh-Lilie, seconded by Nancy Silander, to move into executive session to discuss confidential/attorney-client privilege information at 8:40 p.m. with Superintendent Jill Krieger in attendance. Moved out of executive session at 9:35 p.m. MOTION: by Nancy Silander, seconded by Ron Schurin to charge the policy committee to work with legal counsel to explore the possibility of developing a policy that would allow limited participation of high school aged, non-enrolled students, in extra-curricular activities at E.O.
