Texts and Resources There will be no textbook officially assigned for this course. However, Canada Travels

is the textbook used and it can be signed out on an individual basis at the request of the

student. If damaged or lost there will be a fee of $95 applied. There is also a binder

containing course material provided by Mrs. Quackenbush that is expected to be

returned at the end of the course. If not returned a fee of $20 will be applied. Notebooks Notebooks should be a brief explanation of what we have been doing in class. They are your PRIMARY resource for

tests, exams and even assignments. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you keep a neat and well-organized and up-to-

date set of notes. Homework Homework is an important part of any course. It will be assigned on a regular basis. Homework often provides the link

between the various ideas that are being discussed in class. Homework will be checked, should be completed to the best

of your ability and be ready at the beginning of the next day, unless otherwise indicated. It is usually wise to leave a little

room at the end of the homework for additions during classroom discussion.

Behaviour Each and every person should be at I.E. Weldon to learn and improve

themselves. Any behavior, which is injurious to the learning

environment in or out of the classroom, is, of course unacceptable.

Respect is critical to providing an environment that everyone feels

comfortable and happy in so simply show everyone, including yourself,

respect! This includes listening when others are speaking and not being

disrespectful when you are speaking. Misuse of cell phones (and other

devices) in class will result in their deposit in the “Cellphone Jail” for

the period. Academic Dishonesty Any ideas or words that come from any source other than from personal experience must be formally referenced. Failure

to do so is considered plagiarism. Cheating during tests or exams, as with any form of academic dishonesty, results in a

mark of zero.

Missed Test/Assignment Policy If a student knows in advance they are going to be absent for a test, it is the students’ responsibility to see Mrs.

Quackenbush BEFORE the absence to arrange to write the test at an alternate date. If no previous arrangements are made,

missed tests will be written the day the student returns to class.

Students are expected to meet all deadlines set out by the subject teacher. Assignments that are not handed in on the due

dates will be subject to a 10% mark deduction. Arrangements regarding planned absences must be made with the

teacher in advance.

Reporting Student achievement will be reported in all courses at the following times:
