Introduction Welcome to the Prep Reading Recommendations for 2016.

In the following pages you will find a wealth of writing for children and young teenagers. The titles

selected aim to give a broad range of genres and authors for children to experience.

From simple chapter books such as the ‘Spy Dog’ series by Andrew Cope to more complex classics such

as Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, there is something for every Prep student. By breaking the list

into genres students can pick the genre they prefer as a starting point and can then explore from there.

Many students in the Prep phase already read extensively and to a high level. To help these students

explore the world of children’s literature further, the following may also be useful:

www.teenreads.com— complete with its own ‘Ultimate reading list’ this website is a perfect source of

inspiration for any student wishing to read more.

Alternatively you could try the ‘Yalsa Teen Book Finder’ app, freely available for both Android and IOS

devices.

Finally, don’t forget that any student who wishes to have a book recommended to them need look no

further than the staff of Harrow’s English department or Library who will always be happy to help.

Coming Summer 2016 Children’s publishing is dynamic. These are a few of the many titles in English being published in the

next few months. In Thailand Kinokuniya and Asia Books are both excellent sources of children’s

books in English. If you prefer ordering from overseas why not try www.bookdepository.com.
