UKULELE 101This introductory ukulele workshop has everyone (even beginners) playing fun and quirky cover songs. The workshop ends with a big uke jam led by members of Readipop’s ukulele group The Small Strings.

BEATROOTS BATERIASamba drumming group Beatroots has performed at many major events and festivals including WOMAD, The Thames Festival and the Olympic Rowing during London 2012. THE SMALL STRINGSThe Small Strings play popular songs on ukuleles and perform at local festivals and events. The weekly sessions include rehearsing existing repertoire and learning new songs. New to the uke? We suggest you try the Beginners Ukulele Course (details below).

BEGINNERS UKULELE COURSEA course for beginners; learn technique, expand your chord knowledge and play alongside others. The course is led by The Small Strings and culminates in a performance at Night of 1000 Ukes*. Readipop can provide a limited number of ukuleles - reserve one by emailing [email protected].

Every Tuesday from 16th September – 28st October, 7 – 9pm at Readipop StudiosPrice: £50* Night of 1000 Ukes takes place on Saturday 31st October at Readipop Studios (more info in Events section).

AFRICAN DRUMMING Learn, develop and rehearse African rhythms played on a mix of traditional drums and percussion including djembes and dun duns. This is an informal workshop leading to opportunities to perform at local events. Complete beginners are welcome and drums are provided.

STREET BAND Whatever wind instrument you play, from the sax to the French horn, Readipop’s Street Band Project welcomes you to join this exhilarating eight-week project. Taking inspiration from the street bands of New York, the group plays quirky arrangements and mashups of popular songs. To join, you will need to be comfortable playing the full range of notes on your instrument (grade 2+ advised).

MOVING ONMoving On is a singing group for people aged 60+. The group meets every week to learn and sing vocal arrangements of classic popular songs. New members are always welcome, including absolute beginners.

TEA & JAM Come and make music in our invigorating music club for adults. Learn, sing and play for fun on a variety of accessible instruments including hand percussion and ukuleles - all with expert guidance. Beginners and rusty players are welcome. All instruments, tea and biscuits are provided. No musical experience is necessary.

Get Gigging is our ‘grown-ups’ rock band project for bedroom guitarists, hairbrush divas, rusty drummers and lapsed musicians. It’s about making music for fun - bringing together musicians to discover and rediscover the joys of playing in a band. Meet like-minded musicians, form bands, rehearse songs, write original material and play a showcase gig to friends and family.

Please note – you need some experience to join Get Gigging. If in doubt, please ask us!
