The inboard marine engine that takes you further on every gallon of gas. In a family of overachievers, where torque is clearly a dominant gene, this lil’ bro is nestled nicely in the middle between the ROUSHcharged 575 and base 400 engine. The Raptor 440 stands apart from all other inboards delivering best in class torque, horsepower and fuel efficiency. RAPTOR 400

NOT YOUR AVERAGE BASE MODEL SURPASSING EXPECTATIONS

Based on Ford’s 6.2L SOHC V8, a proven workhorse, the Raptor 400 boasts some serious low-rpm torque at a staggering 400 lb-ft. From more advanced technology, more water ready innovations and more premium features that come standard to more fuel efficiency, more rugged durability and more season after season reliability, the Raptor 400 is everything you wouldn’t expect from a base model. This kind of performance has historically been reserved only for those who choose to upgrade. And it’s reassuring to know that the Raptor 400 has proved itself under extreme loading and in more extreme conditions than you are ever likely to experience.

It’s safe to say the Raptor 400 boldly distinguishes itself from all other base inboard offerings and is the most capable base model ever. Purpose built specifically to quickly plane todays modern 20’–22’ boat offerings with factory ballast.

Series is the result of purpose driven engineering designed to provide more torque where

TORQUE CENTRIC PERFORMANCE (TCP)

Our computer controlled sequential firing multiport EFI system coupled with the additional

control of wide-band air/fuel sensors and dual spark plugs makes for a leaner running

engine which equates to better fuel economy and lower emissions. More time on the

water and less time at the pump.

LESS FUEL CONSUMPTION

Helps maintain consistent engine temperatures contributing to better fuel economy and

performance. Also prevents crank case condensation, ultimately eliminating corrosion

leading to a longer engine life. Provides improved cabin heater performance.

CLOSED COOLED

Designed to optimize oil pick-up at steep boat angles and high G turns. The purpose built

marine oil pan takes away the worry of oil starvation by controlling how the oil moves

around while towing all watersport disciplines.

TOWSPORT SPECIFIC MARINE OIL PAN AND PICK-UP TUBE

Provides for more efficient combustion leading to increased fuel economy, reliability and

cleaner emissions.

DUAL SPARK PLUGS

Our 5-step state-of-the-art paint process, e-coated components and special coatings

on non-paintable components keep the outside of the engine looking like new. The

inside is protected by a standard, anode protected closed cooling system so there is no

contact with corrosive environments. Components that do come in contact with corrosive

environments are made of brass, copper stainless steel or cast iron to ensure longevity.

CORROSION PROTECTION

The standard closed cooling system makes winterization a snap with self-draining

manifolds and fewer components requiring water drain. With our easily accessible remote

mounted oil filter, quick-drain oil system and hi-mounted oil fill, routine maintenance is

painless. Our hi-mounted alternator, flame arrestor and fuse/relay box are not only easily

accessible at the top of the engine but are under the engine’s beauty cover for extra

protection. Dual, long-life spark plugs, not only improve combustion but also extend the

spark plug service life to 300 hours.

SERVICEABILITY

The overhead cam engine design coupled with a cast iron engine block and exhaust

manifolds makes for an engine that runs smoother and quieter. Experience a smooth

purr instead of loud engine that prevents you from being able to hear one another when

on the boat.

QUIET RIDE

The combination of high-strength cast iron manifolds and our ultra quiet stainless steel

tubular catalyzed exhaust is better at containing heat allowing the catalyst to perform

with greater efficiency producing exhaust emissions that are better than the required

4 star rating.

RAPTOR PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RPM)

In efforts to make boating easier for the driver, we have added a suite of monitoring systems that enables the high-capacity ECM to reduce operator workload, as well as react precisely to driver commands, we call it the Raptor Performance Management System (RPM). From engine temperature, fuel pressure and water flow monitoring to low oil level, inlet air temperature and more, the Raptor Performance Management System has more monitoring devices than any other offering. RPM comes standard on each Raptor model and arrives packed with an long list of innovative and intuitive components that constantly monitor conditions and driver input to optimize performance and efficiency of the engine, while adding an extra layer of protection by staying one step ahead. Essentially the RPM turns all of your controls, sensors and systems into one finely tuned machine. These precise, seamless adjustments bring added confidence and the promise of an immediate thrill - season after season. The Raptor Performance Management System is your trusty wingman, no matter the conditions.

INTELLIGENCE IN MOTION

WATER FLOW MONITORIINGIn the event the strainers are blocked, the impeller fails, a bag is sucked up or any water restricting obstruction occurs, the water flow monitoring system will notify the operator for safe return to the dock.

LOW OIL LEVEL MONITORING

Sends data to the ECM to adjust the efficiency of the engine. Optimizes the engine’s operating parameters based on the outside air temperature. The ECM uses this sensor as a source of data to best tune the engine.

Measures temperature of the cylinder head which is more accurate and more responsive than simply measuring coolant temperature, allowing the system to react quicker to protect the engine if the system detects a cooling concern.

Measures the oil level at each engine shutdown and warns the operator of a low oil level at the next start cycle.

AIR/FUEL RATIO SENSORMonitors the engine fuel and minimizes C0 exhaust emissions for a safe, clean-air boating experience.

FUEL PRESSURE MONITORINGPrevents engine damage from inadequate fuel pressure by placing the engine into power-reduction.
