This week’s Assembly will
be hosted by:
Mrs Pascoe
Over the past two weeks, I spent quality time with my family making special memories of moments spent together. The highlights for me would have to be seeing the wonder and excitement in my 2 year old grandson’s eyes every minute of day and riding a roller coaster with my mother! I would like to thank Liz Gleeson and Jane Vaughan for relieving during my absence. They both did an outstanding job keeping the engine running.
Early yesterday morning our Stage 3 students and teachers left on their adventure to Canberra. I am sure that they will all have a wonderful experience, especially when they travel to the snow for the day.
I have been informed that the installation of the new playground equipment will begin this coming weekend. It has taken a while to get things going, and as we know, all good things come to those who wait, so keep watching the space between the large gum tree in the triangle garden and the C.O.L.A. where the GeoClimber will begin to take shape.
Have an awesome week...
Mrs Kerry-Sue Pascoe

Regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their options in the future. NSW Public Schools work in
partnership with parents to encourage and support regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes
easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
The school is required to record explanations for absences as a way of ensuring that students are absent from school only when they are sick or have a justified reason for missing school. If you are able to explain any absences from school in advance (where possible) or as soon as possible after the absence we will adjust our records.
LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS
The Education Act 1990 requires that parents ensure their children regularly attend school each day it is open for students unless there is a justified reason for their absence (ie. illness, unavoidable medical appointment, required to attend a recognised religious holiday exceptional or urgent family circumstances). Following an absence from school, parents must ensure that a verbal or written explanation for the absence is provided to the school within 7 days.
To explain your child’s absence from school, please ring or email the school office, or send in a note. Absence notification booklets are available from the office upon request.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ARRIVING ON TIME
Arriving at school before 8.55am each morning:
Ensures students do not miss out on learning activities scheduled early in the day
Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
Gives students time to greet their friends before class
Reduces classroom disruption for all students
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence from school and must be explained by parents in the same way as a full day absence, otherwise the absence will be documented as unexplained and unjustified.
TRAVEL DURING SCHOOL TERMS
Families are encouraged to travel during school holidays. If travel is necessary during the school term, an Application for Extended Leave may need to be completed with the school. Absences relating to travel will be marked as leave on the roll and therefore contribute to your child’s total absences for the year.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD HAS UNACCEPTABLE ATTENDANCE?
The Department of Education may be required to take action where children of school age have recurring numbers of unexplained or unjustified absences from school. You may be asked to attend, along with your child, a Compulsory Schooling Conference to help to identify the supports your child may need so they attend school regularly.
COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Students who have shown acceptable behaviour and citizenship and had no unexplained or unjustified absences from school are becoming eligible for their Silver Awards in our student welfare system.
The following students are eligible to receive their Silver Award at this Friday’s Assembly hosted by Mrs Pascoe in Wilson Hall at 12.30pm. Students that are absent (eg. on excursion) will be handed their awards at next week’s Assembly.

FETE DONATIONS
5/6H will be running a stall at the fete in October
and we need your help.
We are asking families
to donate new toys or items suitable to use as prizes for our stall. These items need to fit inside a small paper
cup.
Miss Vaughan is also seeking donations of
clean glass jars for the fete. Clean glass
jars of all sizes, with or without
labels, can be
dropped off
at the Library.
