“SIGNAL & TELECOMMUNICATION”

UNDER NORTH EAST FONTIER RAILWAY

MALIGAON,GUWAHATIPRESENTED BY:

KUMAR RAMAN(5EC42)

•Indian Railways is 150 year old

•It is largest railway system in world under one management.

•It is a lifeline of country.

•It is one of the world's largest railway networks 115,000 km.

• 7,500 stations in all over India.

COMMUNICATIONS ???TELECOMMUNICATION???

SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ???

OPTIC FIBRE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ???

TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM

•Telecommunications plays important role in the division and is associated with Safety Communication.

•In the telecommunication there through the microphone sound signal is converted in the form of electric or electromagnetic signal.

•Communication over a distance by cable, telegraph, telephone, or broadcasting

A satellite communications is an artificial satellite sent to space for the purpose of telecommunications.

SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

USES OF SATELLITE COMMUNICATION

Long distance communication.

Bandwidth strength.

Broadcasting satellite service(BSS).

Direct Broadcast satellite(DBS).

OPTIC FIBRE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

There are three types of OFC.

(1)Single mode

(2)Multimode

(3)PhotonicsFig: OFC

•Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber.

• The light forms an electromagnetic carrier wave that is modulated to carry information.

Basic of optical fiberIt shape in the cylindrical shape. It is flexible medium of glass and plastic pipe.Large number of information send through the optical

fiber.Band width:-For single mode:-100GHz

For multimode:-1GHz

MEDIUM OF COMMUNICATION IN RAILWAYS

The medium uses for communication in railway:-

(1)Overhead Alignment system (copper conductor)

(2)Underground Cable System (OFC)

(3)Wireless System

(4) satellite communications

I S D N(Integrated Services Digital Network)• Introduced commercially in 1979.

•Transmission of Voice, Text, Fax, Picture, and Video on Single pair of wires.

•Interface on only one pair of wires.

• Faster connections - less than 2 sec.

Speech: 64 kbps.

Image: 64 kbps (minimum.)

Data: 16 kbps

TOTAL: 144 kbps.

For framing and other maintenance features = 48 kbps.

•Total: 144 + 48 = 192 kbps are transmitted and received

DATA TRANMITTION/RECEIVING RATE

ISDN ASSOCIATED TWO TYPE(1)Basic rate interface (BRI)

(2) Primary rate interface (PRI)

Basic rate interface (BRI)=(2B+D)

Primary rate interface (PRI)=(30B+D)

•High speed and high quality communication.

• Reliability and security.

• Better use of existing facility.

•International standardization.

•Simplified wiring.

•Efficiency of network usage.

•Standard data transfer rate.

ADVANTAGES OF ISDN

POWER SUPPLYIt is very important unit which driving the devices in

railways communication.

BATTERY:-

Battery are used to continue supplying power , when main supply is off.
