The Remote Area Health Corps (RAHC) was established in 2008 and is now part of the Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory through Health initiative. RAHC places General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Oral and Allied Health professionals in remote Indigenous communities throughout the Territory. RAHC seeks to strengthen health workforce activities with the objective of contributing to the improved health and wellbeing of Indigenous children, young people and families by supplementing the efforts of the health services in the Territory.

Be part of the effort

SupportAll RAHC health professionals are supported 24/7 by dedicated clinical and regional staff on their placements. If you are new to remote, RAHC also offers an experienced Remote Educator to help ensure your first remote experience is an effective and rewarding one.

Be part of a teamAs a RAHC health professional you’ll be part of a team, providing support to the permanent health workforce in the communities. RAHC and the health service will take care of all of your arrangements, including travel and accommodation.

Improve Indigenous health outcomesYou can make a difference in improving Indigenous health outcomes. The understanding and skills you develop on placement can be applied back home with your Indigenous patients or clients in your own community.

Keep your regular jobWith paid placements from three weeks to three months, you can make a real contribution to the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, without giving up your regular job back home.

You are ready to make a contributionIf you have primary health care experience and meet our minimum requirements, then you already have the key skills and experience to start making a difference.

RAHC will help you develop the toolsRAHC provides you with free clinical eLearning along with tailored face-to-face clinical and cultural training, in the NT, at the start of your first placement. You can learn more about remote and Indigenous health and develop new skills.

RAHC has opportunities for urban-based General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Dentists, Dental Therapists, Dental Assistants and Audiologists to undertake short-term paid placements in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.
