WHAT WE DORadiology faculty members provide image interpretation and discuss their findings with attending veterinarians.

All imaging modalities are linked to a central computer, which provides permanent storage of the images and allows viewing access throughout the hospital within minutes of completion of an imaging examination.

Radiology faculty clinicians also provide outreach consultations using teleradiography for veterinarians across the country.

HOW WE DO ITDiagnostic Radiology Service has access to state-of-the-art equipment for diagnoses, including:

• Digital Radiography and Fluoroscopy • Ultrasound • Nuclear medicine • Computed tomography (CT) • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

WHO WE AREThe Radiology Service has six board-certified veterinary radiologists, two of whom are also board certified in radiation oncology. Additionally, the service has three veterinarians in residency training to become radiologists. The service has five registered radiologic technologists, an ultrasound assistant and clerical personnel.

The Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital is one of the nation’s leading medical facilities for animal health care while also providing hands-on clinical education to senior-level students enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The 208,000-square-foot facility is one of the largest and most technologically-advanced teaching and referral hospitals in the country.

The Auburn University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, through the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital, the J. T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital and the Auburn University Veterinary Clinic, provide state-of-the-art care for more than 18,000 patients last year.

APPOINTMENTSAs Radiology is an ancillary service, appointments for imaging exams can only be requested through one of the teaching hospital’s services or the Auburn University Veterinary Clinic. For more information on appointments, go online to www.vetmed.auburn.edu.
