Question of the Week

How am I called to transform my life? Have I already transformed my life and feel called to encourage others to do so as well?

I’LL DO IT

You may have heard this one before: “There were four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. An important job had to be done: Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. So Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.” Isaiah in a vision sees God’s overpowering holiness and majesty and realizes the gulf between him and God and between God and God’s people. An angel declares, “[Y]our wickedness is removed, your sin is purged.” God asks, “Who will go for us?” and Isaiah Immediately replies, “Here I am; send me!” (Isaiah 6:7, 8, 9). Isaiah doesn’t look for someone else, he makes no excuses, he does not hesitate. Nor does he ask what God requires; he has unbounded trust and willingness to do God’s will. Simon Peter and his friends in today’s Gospel have caught nothing. Jesus tells them to cast their nets in deep water, and the catch is huge. Like Isaiah, Simon Peter is only conscious of his own sinfulness, but Jesus tells him not to be afraid. Simon and his crew simply trust, and leave everything to follow Jesus.

Renueve nuestro pacto matrimonial.

Amen.

Prayer of Married Couples

Almighty and eternal God, you blessed the union of husband and wife so that we might reflect

the union of Christ with His Church: look with kindness on us. Renew our marriage covenant. Increase your love in us, and

strengthen our bond of peace so that, [with our children], we may always rejoice in the gift of your

blessing. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

DAMIEN A ONE-MAN PLAY BY ALDYTH MORRIS

~ AN INSPIRATIONAL TRUE STORY

On Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1501 S. Main Street in Lombard. The performance starts at 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:45 pm). The star of the show is Wayne Messmer, known in Chicago as the renowned singer of the National Anthem at sporting events, but he is also recognized as an author (The Voice of Victory), broadcaster and actor.

The play deals with the life of Father Joseph DeVeuster (Father Damien, the leper priest of Molokai) in Hawaii. Between 1873- 1889, Father Damien dedicated his life to helping the lepers and making their time in seclusion more honorable and meaningful. He was canonized a Saint on October 11, 2009.

The play is very powerful and moving, and Wayne Messmer becomes Father Damien for the audience.
