PYD®-ALUTOPCeiling heating
• Prerequisites for laying and comfort
Some things have to be taken into consideration:
1. Rooms with a height below 3m are suitable for the installation of a ceiling heating system only to a limited extent.
2. In accordance with DIN 1946 part 2, comfortable conditions have to be provided for the occupant. These conditions are defi ned as such:
- Distance to the exterior wall 1,0 m- Distance to the interior wall 0,5 m- Height above the fl oor of up to 2 m- The air temperature between the heights of 0,1m and 1,1m from the ground must not have a greater difference than 2 K/m, in
accordance with DIN 1946 part 2.- The fall of cold air in lounging areas must not cause a speed of the air that is >0,15 m/s.
3. The Room temp. has to be set out about 1-2 K higher than in fl oor heating systems, according to the profi le of temperature!
PYD®-ALUTOP warms up the surfaces that encompass the room fi rst. The median surface temperature of PYD-ALUTOP should not be above 30° C at a Room temp. of 22° C. An increase of the surface temperature is not recommended due to the asymmetrical nature of radiation that may arise then.

PYD®-ALUTOPCooling of surfaces
• The dual usage heating/cooling
PYD®-THERMOSYSTEME cannot only be used for heating, but also for cooling in the summer. This yields a dual usage and another fi eld of application. With a relatively small additional effort, a heat pump can be run in a way so the ceiling heating system can be used for cooling in the summer. Doing so, a cooling capacity of up to 90 W/m² is possible, relating to the high heat transition fi gure α of 15 W/m²K of our systems. Yet, the performances achieved depend upon a variety of factors.A consideration of individual cases is necessary, since nowadays the heating loads and respectively cooling loads adductable, are signifi cantly greater in most cases. The dimensioning of the system is conducted with respect to the case of cooling, yet without neglecting the aspect of comfort.
• Health and comfort
Conventional air conditioning systems use cool air to remove the thermal load. Air in subtemperatures is blown into the rooms in great amounts. In some cases this can lead not only to a reduction of comfort, but also to impairments to health, as well. Besides the risk of draught and exposure to noise, defi cient hygienic conditions of the air channel system, in many cases caused by insuffi cient maintenance, often contribute to an impairment of health. Maintenance of our systems’ heating/ cooling surfaces is not necessary.
PYD®-THERMOSYSTEME work completely silently and without draught. This is why it’s sometimes called “silent cooling“. The exchange of energy by means of radiation corresponds to natural conditions and is perceived as very comfortable. The user perceives the room ambient to be comfortable due to the cooled surfaces, even though the Room temp. may be relatively high. The chart below shows this.Additionally, the surfaces have a homogeneous profi le of temperature without great differences or a wave-like pattern due to the ideal distribution of temperature. This means that every occupant is provided with the exact same conditions and the „traditional“ discussion about better or worse work places, when it comes to terms of room ambient, has become obsolete.

• Setting the direction for climatisation of buildings
Nowadays, the occupant and operator have high demands on air-conditioning and heating buildings. When it comes to comfort, conventional heating systems such as static heating surfaces, climate and ventilation systems are depleted soon and only suitable with restrictions. In our times it’s important to use all the space provided ideally and at the same time conserve as much energy as possible. This should all be achieved while providing for an optimum of cosiness, comfort, and user-friendliness.Alternative sources of energy like terrestial heat exchangers or convertible heat pumps can serve as chiller units to produce chillness.
The technology of PYD®-THERMOSYSTEME opens up new, almost unlimited possibilities in this fi eld. Aluminium heat conducting sheets moulded in the shape of pyramids are integrated close to the areas of the room that encompass surfaces and adjusted to the required temperatures by means of heating or cooling water. Due to the unique moulding, an utmost of effectiveness can be achieved, redundant mass that saves energy can be conserved, and little space is used for pipes that bear water. The occupant still has the chance to adjust the room temperature himself and suit it to his request. Regulating temperature by means of heat radiation is in correspondence to the natural circumstance within most living creatures that regulate their body temperature the same way. Due to the background in nature this is perceived to be highly comfortable. Due to the great surface for transfering heat actively of PYD®-THERMOSYSTEME, small differences of temperature between the activated mantle surfaces of a room and the temperature of the air of a room suffi ce to transfer great amounts of energy noise and draught free.

• Lower deviation of the dew point
In order to avoid the danger of a lower deviation of the dew point and the formation of condensate that comes with it, dew point detectors are installed in the individual zones of regulation. In case the dew point detector detects condensate, either the supply of cooling water to the activated surfaces will be discontinued or, optionally, the fl ow temperature of the cooling medium will be raised slowly, until the formation of condensate is no longer possible. The case of lower deviation of the dew point can be almost excluded in offi ce buildings since there often is an additional ventilation system installed in those buildings, in order to secure the minimal turnover of air and keep the relative air moisture at comfortable 50%. This means that a range that is free from dew points is maintained.
Since the eduction of cooling loads in the construction concept mentioned is undertaken by one of the PYD THERMOSYSTEME, the use of the air ventilation system can be reduced to a minimum. Thus, the space requirement for the air ventilation system is reduced and as a matter of that fact the cost of the system, as well.

5) Installation of PYD® assembly bows
PYD® assembly bows are affi xed to the OSB panel by means of the provided PYD®-SXM wooden screws. Where necessary, the feeding tubes are also attached to the pipe holders that are deli-vered as additional equipment
Prerequisites for installation:
1. The existing ceiling construction has to be even, clean, dry, and stable..
2. The structural condition and the laying plan match.3. The insulation for additional heat, respectively the
compensation insulation, has been inserted in accordance with EnEV and laid out accordingly.
4. The OSB panels have been affi xed to the ceilingconstruction on the entire surface area.
Needed tools/documents:1. Scissors for cutting PE-RT pipes2. Sharp knive3. Possibly PYD®-RVH decoiler for laying the pipe4. Ring wrench NW 30 mm5. Hand-held screwdriver with bit and torx6. Hand-held saw or fret saw7. Electronic tacker8. Prepackaging of pipe rings9. Laying plan
1) Installation of the mounting wood
After the OSB panels have been installed on the entire surface of the ceiling and the optional notches for the cables have been created, we start measuring, cutting, and affi xing the mounting wood bars
6) Installation of PYD® foam foil
After removing the carrier material, PYD®-PE foam foil is installed between the mounting wood bars and the assembly bows with the adhesive side facing upwards. PYD®-PE foam foil is now in-stalled in the area of the heat conducting sheets
4) Notches for PYD® assembly bows
…and dislocate the cut wooden bars by 28cm. The bars are af-fi xed to the OSB panel at the grid measurement of 56cm, not before. But now the notches for the feeding tubes are cut out
3) Labelling of the PYD® assembly bows
At only one feeding tube, at a distance of about 25 cm (+10cm for every additional feeding tube) we mark the cut through the mounting wood bar, as well as the notches for the feeding tubes. We cut the mounting wood bars at the position designated by the assembly bow…

PYD®-ALUTOPInstructions for installation
Duration of assembly
PYD® ceiling system and its components for installation are designed very simply. You can estimate about 20-22 group minutes to be the required period of time for laying (basically, this depends upon the condition and preparation of the subground). This time specifi cation includes installation of the mounting wood bars, PYD foam foil, PYD assembly bows, as well as their alignment, cut and assembly. Furthermore, installation of PYD system pipe with a connection to the heating circuit distributor as well as the set-up and fi xing of PYD aluminium heat conducting sheets are included in this time specifi cation
9) Installation of PYD® system pipe
PYD® system pipe is pulled over the arch of the assembly bow and hooked in. In order to retighten the PYD® system pipe, it is compressed about 20 cm in front of the bow and pushed/ pulled as far above the PYD® assembly bow until the pipe is straight
7) Connection of the flow to the PYD® heating circuit distributor
In order to feed the PYD® system pipe to the heating circuit dis-tributor without tension, the boiler tube is pushed through PYD® laying angle. Afterwards, PYD® system pipe is connected to the fl ow of the heating circuit distributor with the PYD® adaptor and conducted to the correspondent room indicated in the laying plan
10) Connection of the return to the PYD® heating circuit distributor
After the ceiling has been covered with PYD® system pipe as indicated in the laying plan, the pipe is guided back to the PYD® heating circuit distributor. It is cut fi ttingly, pushed through the laying angle pipe, and connected to the return of the PYD® heating circuit distributor with an adaptor
PYD®-SR20system pipe
PYD®-ALUaluminium heat conducting
PYD®-VWR20laying elbow pipe
PYD®-RVHdecoiler for laying the pipel
12) Fixation of PYD® aluminium heat conducting sheets
The sheets are laid out in a row at a distance of about 10mm. The distance to the mouting wood bars has to be about 0,5 mm, in order to create a pre-tension for installing the ceiling cover
11) Installation of PYD® aluminium heat conducting sheets
PYD® aluminium heat conducting sheets are put onto the PYD sys-tem pipe from below and affi xed to the OSB panels in the middle of both sides next to the pipe by means of a tacker tool
8) Usage of PYD® laying angle
In order to ensure PYD® system pipe is installed without tension, laying angles are positioned in between two pipe holders at the points of redirection of the feed pipe and deduction
