Côte de Beaune Premier Cru White 100% Chardonnay Puligny-Montrachet Sous le Puits Vineyards situation Puligny Montrachet, situated to the South of Meursault and to the North of Chassagne Montrachet, shares with Chassagne a handful of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world. The Premier Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet, noted for the exceptionally high and consistent quality of the wines they produce, stretch across the upper half of Puligny's slope from Meursault to Chassagne. Characteristics The « Sous le Puits » climate, which lies in the hamlet of Blagny, is the highest in altitude of all the Puligny Montrachet vineyards. The soil of this 7 ha big vineyard, is very rocky with only a very thin upper layer made up mainly of small pebbles. It is well drained and warms up easily in the sun. Wine making Maison Louis Jadot practices traditional oak vinification to yield a full-flavoured yet graceful wine of exceptional balance and breed, with complex, distinctive aromas typical of Puligny. Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy The Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Sous le Puits" has a pale golden colour, and is harmonious and delicate, with aromas of fern and linden and a subtle acidity. This great white wine is destined to honour haute cuisine : shellfish cooked in a court-bouillon, creamed and poached fish, poultry liver pâtés, ripe cheeses like Munster and mature Comté. Preservation This wine will age 10 to 15 years.
