A. Describe the science supporting Emotional Intelligence (EQ) as a pillar foundation of career and interpersonal relationships.

B. Report on PTSD and Vietnam War Veterans suffering through lower levels of emotional intelligence after the war and had higher levels of stress.

C. Share the perspectives and study of trauma exposed university students and EQ factors.

D. List actions individuals can take to increase their EQ, impacting careers and interpersonal relationships.

Disorder (PTSD)– “A disorder that develops in

some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event” (NIMH)

• Facts– More than 3 million cases

per year in the US– Relived through treatment– Chronic disorder

PTSD among War Veterans

•Iraq and Afghanistan War: 11-20 out of 100 veterans

– 2014: 2.7 American Veterans– 50% do not seek treatment

•Gulf War: 12 out of 100 veterans •Vietnam War: 15 out of 100 veterans are currently diagnosed

– 30 out of 100 veterans have had it in their lifetime
