MISSION STATEMENT: To uphold the noble Mission of UPMASA and as Board of Governors (BOG) Chairman, I envision to shepherd the many great ideas of its members into more concrete results that will benefit the Filipino people. I envision more engagement from the younger members, and to make UPMASA’s accomplishments more visible and known in social media, and not only to our younger members but to the Filipino community in United States. By doing so we can harness these resources to help with UPMASA’s goals.

Headache and Migraines as well as Multiple Sclerosis. From 1996 onward, was the head of Stroke Initiative Programs in various hospitals, implementing guidelines in the acute treatment of stroke and use of IV TPA.

2005-2011 Co-Medical Director, Stroke and Neurovascular Program of Central DuPage Hospital. . Concurrently served as co-Medical Director of the Neuro-Interventional Program. During this term, started the Northern Illinois Stroke Alliance [NISA] in which Central DuPage Hospital became the hub for various spokes outlying hospitals up to a radius of more than 70 miles, centralizing acute stroke evaluation and management, pioneering use of remote Robotic Telemedicine. During this term, served as principal or sub-investigator in up to 16 concurrent stroke related major studies.

2012 to present Clinic Director, Edward Neurosciences Institute Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Center Stroke and Neurocritical Care: Edward-Elmhurst Health System, Naperville, IL. In affiliation with Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

Recent project: Principal Investigator, ImpACT 24B Brainsgate Trial – Collateral blood flow augmentation by stimulation of the Sphenopalatine Ganglion with an implanted device via the pterygopalatine fossa. Results released in 2019 International Stroke Conference, Hawaii.
