Promotional Bulletin Board (BB) Leadership Development Leadership Development Contest Contest Information State Qualifying Exam: No National Contest: Yes Participation: Individual Contest Description A bulletin board display is created by the SkillsUSA chapters based on the annual SkillsUSA theme. The bulletin boards promote SkillsUSA, career and technical education in general, and related occupational information. An accompanying notebook documents the development and construction of the bulletin board. An oral presentation explains the process, purpose and educational value. Tasks To Be Evaluated The contest requires the development of a promotional bulletin board using the SkillsUSA national theme, and it may also include promotion of local SkillsUSA chapter activities or technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations. Skill also will be evaluated through an interview. Clothing Requirement National Requirement: For men: Official red blazer or jacket, black dress slacks, white dress shirt, plain black tie with no pattern or SkillsUSA black tie, black socks and black shoes. For women: Official red blazer or jacket; black dress skirt (knee length) or slacks with businesslike white, collarless blouse or white blouse with small, plain collar that may not extend onto the lapels of the blazer; black sheer or skin-tone hose and black shoes. State Requirement: National Requirement OR Business Professional Attire (minnimum black dress pants, white shirt, dark socks with dress shoes) Supplies Provided by Technical Committee See Technical Standards. Additional Information Advisors and students must read the technical standards to know exactly what the specific rules are for designing a SkillsUSA bulletin board. The board must have interchangeable parts. These parts are to take off the board and new parts added. The parts are adhered to the board to change the message, represent club activities, pictures, etc. These interchangeable parts are to be in a container on the floor next to the red notebook Vinyl- car wrap, printed material from a large format are not approved. Materials cost is cost of materials used, includes what would be if you had to pay to have the work done. A red SkillsUSA notebook is placed with the board before judging. The notebook must be placed with the board before judging. The notebook must have a letter on school’s letterhead, signed by a local administrator with full name and title. Resume is one page. SkillsUSA and current theme for 2017-18 should be presented on the board.
